There are reports that a ship under Italian flag pushed back a boat with migrants to the Libyan coast. Hopefully just the beginning of a new standard policy. Would go a long way towards solving Europe's migrant problems

I have never understood why these people are rescued a few km off Libya and then brought to Italian ports which are 500km away ...

International asylum and sea rescue law clearly says that rescued people/migrants have to be brought back to the nearest port, not pick and choose where they wanna go to (aided by the ridiculous rescue NGOs) and being transferred taxi-style to Italy.
