I thought exit polls are illegal in Canada.

I read it more like "if initial results imply landslide loss"

No. I don't like to purposefully subject myself to unpleasant things.

Yes, in fact, I was quite excited by the 2016 exit polls when I saw that unlike 2012, voters were choosing "Strong Leader" (Trump) over "Shares my values" (Clinton). I knew that was good for Trump and that it could be an interesting night.

It didn't really sink in until Chris Wallace said something to the effect of "I think we are now open to the possibility...Donald Trump could be the next President of the United States." Then came Ohio, North Carolina, Florida and Wisconsin all by 11:30pm. Unlike people watching other networks who didn't call Wisconsin, I knew he had the three+one blue state and had already won the election.

Yes but 2016 exit polls didnt even come close to showing a landslide defeat. What I mean are exit polls what show a double-digit defeat for your side or something close to it

No, and I wouldn't do it if we were winning bigly either. The show's over either way.

And yes, the hypocrisy/irony/paradox/what-have-you of that attitude while lamenting how the media keeps artificially creates horse-races [90% of the time at the expense of Democrats] were there really shouldn't be isn't lost on me.

Yes.

Spanish exit polls are incredibly inaccurate and it's not like the count takes much time, by midnight usually like 99% of the vote is already counted

The 2016 election is a good example.

Nope, I’d probably do something better like play a video game for a couple hours then check back in, and hopefully things would’ve improved.

No, but I'd check in like every hour to survey the damages.
