I'm all for looking at the data before making a decision but this sounds like the back cover of Brave New World 2018 edition.

sounds like a government that it would be easy to turn into an effective dictatorship honestly and rather terrifying because of it.

"rational" is a subjective term anyway

Honestly a pretty terrifying idea. Every aspect of it is terrible.

Suffers from the basic problem that data is only useful in that it can make a case for certain policies on the premise that certain values - such as compassion - are important.  But without a set of values one has before looking at the data, then the premise of Rationalia is ridiculous.

This. Also, most of the time it's impossible to get definitive evidence on a problem before it becomes impossibly bad, and it is necessary to act on incomplete proof. Opposition & special interests could use this to sabotage the government - like with climate change action IRL, but worse and for everything.

The episode of The Simpsons where the smart people govern Springfield ineptly comes to mind.

This world would be better titled empirica than rationalia, given its strong emphasis on data.
