Usually the Democrats and Republicans nominate 'meh' candidates.

Carter

Ford

Stevenson

Landon

Dole

Kerry

Gore

McCain

Dewey

Romney

Clintons

Mondale

Bushes

etc

In 1988 it was different. The Democratic base united around the awesome MICHAEL STANLEY DUKAKIS, THE GOVERNOR to be their nominee for president.

I still cannot figure out how he lost. An upset to beat 1948 and 2016 by far. The country still cries over his defeat.

Gore and Gephardt split the conservative Democratic vote and Jackson wasn't a viable General Election candidate.

What are you smoking, Dukakis was the textbook definition of a "meh" candidate. Bentsen, Gephardt, or even a young Al Gore might've beaten Bush.
