With the attention span of the average voter, this is going to be old, old news by November.

Let Reps cling to whatever false hopes they have for their prospects in 2018.

I'm not impressed tbh. I'd like to see a bit about what Kavanaugh's views are on substantive due process and the general right to privacy. Withholding judgement for now.

Great pick on Trump’s part, he’s a fantastic selection.

He'll complete the conservative oligarchy take over of America.

Excellent news. You plebeians have had rights for too long.

Off-topic, but one of the worst things about Trump is how he turns everything into a spectacle. I mean just look at this ****. He could have announced this from the lawn during the afternoon.

It affects you whether the pick was made inside or out?

I am just suffering from Trump fatigue. I long for the days for a president (regardless of party), who wasn't always in the news.

It's strange that Roberts is the "swing" vote now.

If we go by dw-nominate scores...Roberts is now closer to the left than JFK's SCOTUS pick Byron White was when he left the court in 1993

Happy it's not Barrett. He's definitely qualified, but I'll have to read up on his opinions.

Conservatism has always been about diminishing the rights of the poor and marginal and expanding the rights of the wealthy and powerful.  The only thing new with Kavanaugh is that the U.S will no longer be a real democracy where anything can effectively be done to fight against that.

I'm confused by some of these post saying ... "great pick" ... "will energize conservatives" ... etc.

I thought of the 4 finalist- Kavanaugh was not a Top 2 pick for most Dems or most Repubs.  So are these post sarcastic- or just isolated views?

He does seem the most Kennedy'ish out of the four, probably why Kennedy himself vouched for him.

It's a process, not a single act. Republicans have been destroying democratic institutions for around 40 years and the hyper partisan Republican Supreme Court is the final step.

They need to keep the positive spin in the public mind, so when their Russian co-conspirators help them steal elections it won't seem too obvious.

Based on prior rulings and the application of DW-NOMINATE, isn't this the most conservative one of the Final Four? Why are some suddenly acting like he's the least bit reasonable?

Never mind Tongue My news source gave a highly biased interpretation of what Kavanaugh actually said about the above.

He's pro-stare decisis when it comes to the main issues, so it's unlikely he'll vote to get rid of Roe, Casey or Obergefell.
