Because the candidates have largely occupied the ideological, political, and trajectory space symbolic of many vying for the 2020 Democratic nomination and party leadership.

Letitia James is a popular NYC pol, supported by Gov. Cuomo and NYS Dems

Zephyr Teachout, Fordham Law prof and former candidate for Gov and Congress, running on very anti-Cuomo anti-establishment platform

Sean Patrick Maloney, Congressman, running on a relatively moderate Congressional platform and tough lawyer persona

Leecia Eve, Buffalo-area lawyer and former top aide to numerous pols including Biden and Hillary, running as the outsider-insider.

I'd say the NY Governor's race is a much more high profile race emblematic of the battle for the party's soul.

Does Teachout go so far as to represent the Bernie/Nix/Ocasio-Cortez socialist wing of the party?  If not, how can this represent a soul fight?

How can this represent a soul fight since part of the soul of Democratic Party is to elect liberal candidates of color?  Is James some type of machine hack?  If Teachout is a part of the Bernie wing, does that wing want to get in a fight with a Black lady?

lets think of some people in your party...

trump, Lee Atwater

trump does racial dog whistling about immigration in almost all of his rally.

atwater used the same strategy to flip southern whites. of course, you could say it wasn't successful I guess, but he attempted

Do you deny the socialist nature of your soul?

Do you admit you do not want the immigration laws enforced?

Do you admit you want to provide Bernie care for all, including resident aliens who have crossed the border illegally.

Since you do not want to enforce the borders, do you admit any resident of Mexico, Central America, or South America can enter the United States and become the proud possessor of the right to free medical care paid for by the government of the United States?

Do you admit this is part of your soul.

Tell me how we pay for these desires of your soul.

Do you deny that many Democrats maintain some people are better to hold office due to their race, ethnicity, national origin, or gender?

Do you deny that many Democrats maintain some public servants are bad merely because of those same characteristics?

Do you deny that many Democrats use racial epitaphs instead of discussing many issues that arise?

What is the purpose of discussing white privilege?

Yes the Democrat soul involves identity politics

The argument in the Democrat Party of New York is in general between part time identity advocates and full timers.

You are in the process of making much of white community feel they are being attacked merely because of the color of their skin.  You make them feel like a minority.  Then they start voting like a minority.

Just as an example all most all police organizations supported Bill Clinton in the 90s
They almost all supported Trump in 2016.   Why do you think they changed?  I know they all became racists.

NY-Gov and Ny-14 are/will be more reflective of the strength of progressives in the Democratic Party

It is easy to be glib, when you do not have an answer.

I do not feel any guilt for my actions in the Alabama race.  That is especially so in light of leftist hysteria in reaction to Judge Kennedy’s resignation.

That's because you're an entirely immoral person who pretends the immorality of others excuses his own. You'd go canvassing for a cannibal if he yelled Chappaquiddick at his rallies.

You're a troll. You feel good empowering a child rapist because it makes people whose politics you dislike upset. How empty inside can someone be?

If everyone was like you the Democratic nominee would run on a platform of killing girls in car crashes to deliberately trigger the conservatives.
You are unable to answer my comments.  But you engage in invective.

I know you will probably claim innocence and youth.  But your whole party for 40 years supported a man who left a young girl to die grizzly death, tried to cover it up, and got special treatment from the law.  The same man helped his nephew tear apart the reputation of a lady who claimed the nephew raped her.   Then you supported Bill & Hillary and there terrible history of abusing their offices and position.  You can take your moral superiority and shove it where the sun does not shine. The damage Kennedy and Clinton did to the nation and their numerous victims far surpasses any damage Moore did.

You all use excuses to not answer the question.

How do you pay for Bernie care in conjunction with open borders?

If you claim to not to answer because I am a pervert, you still have to answer the question for the public.

The question exists even without Bernie care?

James seems like a sellout to the Cuomo political machine and Teachout is problematic in some of her views, so I'm enthusiastically supporting Maloney right now.

Just what do you claim are the perimeters of this fight  for the soul of the New York Democratic Party.

As an outsider I set out my view of that soul. I am sure you do not like,my view.  Tell me your view.

Tell me how you pay for Bernie care.

Explain your views of open borders.

Do you really believe in the government owning businesses.  Will you have the government own Wal-mart?  What about internet related companies? What about Amazon?

Do you think the socially liberal corporate leaders of your party would agree to the government owning businesses?

Just what should constitute the soul of the Democratic Party?

Why is the right to terminate life such a part of that soul?

It's baffling how you insist every democrat supports positions that they clearly don't.

It should actually be a really interesting race. I think Tish James is probably the front-runner here but if Nixon is able to get 35% or more in the gubernatorial primary and most of those also go for Teachout + some residual support she has from her 2014 and 2016 campaigns then she might have a shot.

I was also sure that Crowley was going to win easily so who knows.
