Yes, of course. The founding fathers gave is a strong constitution and a republic that survived two Independence wars, a civil war, a great depression between two world wars, a cold war, Watergate, 9/11 and a major recession. We'll survive the orange clown as well. But his devastating legacy will haunt us for a very long time and last much beyond his tenure in office.

The nation will survive as will most of its people, but as for being a defacto democracy (or a representative democracy/republic), I doubt it.


"A Republic if you can keep it."  Well, the USA had 231 years after this comment.  I guess that was about all that could be expected.

depends on how you define "survive". Are you saying will the country exist? If so, I'd lean yes. Are you saying will we be the leader of the free world? I'd say no. Not sure we will continue to be any sort of leader or nearly as free.

Powerful nations do not last forever.  Yes, the above examples were forces from without.  But they were forces that desired the end to the old order, wherever they were from.  (And yes, you can bring up Russia in this instance.)  The Koch brothers, the oil companies, Roger Stone, the Mercers, the alt-right, rural white America, etc. - they, together, are surely forces "without" relative to what the USA was under the Obama Administration, just as much as Odoacer - and his literal army of supporters, both German and Roman - and the Moslems were to the Roman empires.
