This is tomorrow.

Mike Seminary: Vaguely centrist to center-left incumbent. Had a recall effort against him in 2017 supposedly over some pretty dull complaints like a very minor city sales tax increase and some troubled municipal projects. The real reason probably being that he was welcomed and was friendly initially to Dakota Access Pipeline protesters. The effort didn't make the ballot due to lack of signatures. Not exactly the most competent guy, but has taken some effort to reign in Bismarck's previously out of control sprawling issues, and boosted the city's previously downright pitiful public transportation.

Steven Bakken: Hard right challenger. Ran for a State House seat in 2016 and lost the GOP primary. Development manager for a local engineering firm and once hosted a local radio show. Is basically attacking Seminary for "spending taxpayer money", wants to completely do away with public transportation, and subsidies for daycare and any homeless shelter efforts, and threw a fit about the city spending a whopping $10k to assist in setting up ad hoc temporary shelters during the winter months when the city's only permanent shelter closed, because apparently letting people die in -30F weather is worse than spending less than 15 cents per city resident. Mr. Fiscal Conservative also has a bankruptcy and three civil judgement against him in his past.

Isaac Afoakwa: a pastor from Ghana of all places. He pastors a charismatic church and claims that God brought him to North Dakota and told him to run. His platform is actually pretty progressive though, he wants to increase funding to homeless shelters and provide more affordable housing, boost local child care options (right now daycare centers in Bismarck have as much as five month waiting periods), change zoning laws to allow for more elementary schools, and lure Amtrak service to Bismarck. He probably has no chance though.

I'd vote for Seminary.

The Ghanian guy sounds pretty good. Out of the ones that actually have a chance, though, Seminary.

Always thought it a little odd that Bismarck has a decent sized population while Pierre barely exists.  Also funny that one was named after a German and the other a Frenchman.  Voted for Seminary cause the other guy is obviously controlled by big oil.  Not crazy about guys who claim God told them to do something either.

Seminary, of course. Do people here actually think a religious loon who claims he spoke to god is a good choice?  Roll Eyes

Mike Seminary. Though I like Isaac Afokawa's platform a lot but I feel Seminary would be better.
