Doubtful. Clinton won Fairfield County where the plant is located 62-36. Maybe the management voted Trump, but I'm fairly certain a majority of the hourly employees voted Clinton.

I wonder if they'll get a bailout like the farmers...what am I saying? Of course they won't

Iowa: approval of President Trump's tariffs is at 24%, and approval of his job performance is at 37%. This is the first statewide poll of any kind asking about approval or disapproval of tariffs in a state. Iowa is the definitive agribusiness state, and export-sensitive crops are a big part of the Iowa economy. Farmers and ranchers usually vote strongly R on the issue of taxes, but if the R politicians do something to hurt income, then those farmers and ranchers swing D.

It may be Emerson, but that poll is terrible for him in a state that he won by 9 points. This supports my thinking that Iowa will revert back to being a true tossup state in 2020.

I was a little confused.  If anything apple prices should be down because other countries have been slapping our agricultural products with retaliatory tariffs.  Then I realized he was talking about AAPL. Less than a third of iPhones are sold in the US. Certainly Apple would be idiots to make them all in the US.It might be worthwhile to make those for the US market here, if the tariffs were intended to be permanent, but Trump claims they're supposed to be temporary until he gets some YUGE trade deals. In that case, building a plant here only makes sense if it makes sense if there were no tariffs. Supply chain issues make that unlikely.

I hope all the Midwestern Dems running for the House and Senate are using this Tweet in their ads and outreach.

That's almost 10% of the entire auto industry in the US.

You'd think an Ivy League education wouldn't produce a moron, but it did.

There are reliable news sources that Trump got into Wharton directly from Fred pulling strings from an old friend. Also from a now deceased professor there who told friends repeatedly that Trump was the dumbest student he ever had.

And realignment continues!

Welcome back American System, been too long. We need to catch up!

Just what I expected and predicted would happen. He would use tariffs to try and help the previous losers in the old free trade consensus and then use subsidies to keep those elements who profited under the old system from bolting.

Combining tariffs with subsidies and low interest rates (if Trump had his way) is like something straight out of the Whig Party or the early Republicans.
Don't forget Trump's infrastructure plan when he first got elected.
