You also should give people who like kangaroos information of their new home's kangaroo approval rating.

If you give black families moving into neighborhoods information about the racially motivated crimes that occured there, it is only fair to give gay people the same information regarding anti-gay motivated crimes.

And if somebody wanted to try to do that, that's fine by me but that wouldn't go with this bill.

Way off topic...but oh wait....that's what you were trying to do! (Really you think you're making fun of the amendment but you're not. Smiley)

It would go with this bill perfectly fine.  Aren't you aware that the U.S. Senate has voted several times to extend the definition of "hate crimes" to include sexual orientation?  Hate crimes don't apply specifically to race.

What, now you want me to write that into the amendment or what?

No, I'm just saying the amendment is discriminatory in its current form.

Then vote against it and get other people to if you want it to fail, that's really all you can do.

4. The Atlasian government shall keep track of the number of racially motivated crimes committed after the passage and implementation of this bill.
The question is on the amendment. All those in favor, say Aye; those opposed, say No.

If I've gotten this right:

4 Aye
2 Nay
2 Abstain

So if one more person votes Aye or Abstain this passes.

I propose the following amendment:

5. The Atlasian government shall keep track of the number of crimes committed because of the victim's sex or sexual orientation after the passage and implementation of this bill.

I think it's wrong for the government to keep special track of hate crimes in preference over other types of crime, but now that the Amendment with Clause 4 has been passed, we may as well extend the definition to include gender and sexual orientation.

I feel the same way. I will, in the end, support this legislation.
