Breed probably wins at this rate, but it’ll be close either way.

So with another 18000 votes counted Leno's leads goes from 255 to 144 votes.  Probably 60000+ votes still to count.  And then probably a recount.

Why did my city adopt this voting system, its takes too long with CA's advance ballots. Sad Imagine having to recount through each allocation round...

What happens if the two lowest remaining candidates are tied at the beginning of a round?

Sadly, I think Breed has to be considered the slight favorite now with the trend from the late ballots and the amount of votes left to count. Sad

Also, it's not a mayoral election, but Mandelman easily beat Sheehy (moderate appointed by Lee) for the Supervisor position in District 8. Mandelman will be seated now, but he'll have to run again against Sheehy in November. If my count is right this should give the left faction on the Board a majority? The moderate faction won a majority in the 2016 elections (6-5) iirc but I don't know if there have been further developments since then.

And on the local referendum front, Referendum F (City-Funded Legal Representation for Residential Tenants in Eviction Lawsuits) passed!

Haven't been paying nearly enough attention to this as I should, unfortunately. Sad

When i hear about "moderate faction" in Sf council - i smile broadly. In almost any other city these "moderates" would be ultraliberals....)))))

But the irony is that "ultraliberal" San Francisco probably has a lot more inequality than a "conservative" Peoria or Omaha.

"Ultraliberal" SF voted for Hillary in the primary, and gave us Newsom, Harris, Feinstein, and Pelosi. SF's liberalism is MASSIVELY overrated.

At the local level in California moderate doesn't mean what a lot of people would assume it means. It doesn't mean Blue Dog it means who is more business friendly in terms of local policy. In fact, there have been hardcore conservative Republicans who have taken positions considered anti-business in some cities in California.

Dianne Feinstein is more liberal than Vladimir Putin, I'll give her that. But calling her very liberal is some crazy sh**t.

She's now up to a 1580 vote lead, so she seems quite likely to win.

I didn't call HER "very liberal". These words were about Harris and Pelosi. But "pragmatic liberal" - sure.

It's now a 1601 vote margin.

Only about 17000 votes left to count.

Breed is basically a law-and-order Democrat, not someone who will solve the homelessness crisis in SF.

She’ll solve it by hanging them from the Bay Bridge.

Hillary Ronen is seeking the presidency of the Board of Supervisors, Breed's District 5 replacement is up in the air, & Mark Farrell is apparently not running for mayor in 2019.
