Most of it very sensible. I would only suggest striking down the section about shotguns, which is why I offer an amendment:

I don't think any of us wants that, but shouldn't people be smart enough not to eat fireworks? I get the distinct impression this particular regulation isn't that helpful considering how (if we excuse the harsh language) downright idiotic you have to be to eat fireworks.

Then again Murphy's Law comes to mind, anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Maybe this regulation is much more costly than it is beneficial, but sometimes regulations do actually have benefit-even if they seem dumb.

exactly, small government is an government that has shown not to work anywhere(Somalia, Haiti, Central African republic, etc) it has ever been tried. Some of these regulations maybe stupid but there's a few that probably shouldn't be repealed and the goal should never be towards being an anarchy.

The two regulations that have made the most controversy so far are also the ones I have problems with/questions about. I'll start with fireworks: I think it's a good regulation to be repealed, but I'm not sure calling the people who eat them "dumb" in the law is necessary, even if it's accurate. The thought of people being legally dumb according to this bill is something I find funny but it isn't something I would actually want. These are "real" bills after all.

Also what is wrong with labelling guns destructive? Though there is probably more there. I want to hear Mr. R's side of this.

I will expand upon this tonight, but "destructive device" has a specific legal definition under the National Firearms Act and is usually reserved for hand grenades or calibers larger than .50. Such weapons are regulated at least as stringently if not more so, than machine guns. ATF issued a guidance letter declaring that these 3 shotguns were not shotguns but rather "destructive devices" in 1994 so as to significantly curtail their marketability. This was around the same time the assault weapon ban passed congress, and one of the ATF arguments was that these shotguns should be singled out because they have similar cosmetic features as assault weapons such as pistol grips and foregrips.

As originally written, this bill would only rescind those 1994 ATF determination letters, which means those shotguns would still be subject to NFA regs, including for minimum length and who you are prohibited from selling one to. In other words, this would remove 3 types of semiautomatic shotguns from the list of what is effectively military ordinance and treat them the same as all other semiautomatic shotguns.

So these shotguns are only cosmetically similar to assault weapons?  Not similar in actual caliber and capability?

So the Striker interestingly enough has a rotating cylinder like a revolver, so it is semiautomatic (like many normal shotguns) but since its a cylinder mechanism it is less complex than those non-DD semiautomatic shotguns that use expelled gas. Unlike rifles which fire a single metal slug, shotguns fire packets of tiny pellets so comparing ammunition is difficult.
