For President Infinity players: I am working on a refined 1992 scenario because there aren't any good ones on 270soft.  I've made a lot of progress on it so far, but I am taking my time with it and hope to have it complete by some time in June.  (I had attempted to create the same scenario before, but I lost all my data.)

Here's the deal: before I send the finished version to 270soft, I would like to have it tested by Atlas posters as a beta version, mainly to help me with bugs, errors, crashes, etc.  I am trying to make the game as historically accurate as possible (within reason, obviously), so suggestions would be appreciated too.  And I want testers to be brutally honest in their reviews.

If you do not own a copy of President Infinity, buy it here.  If you want to be a beta tester when my scenario is done, just let me know.  Preferably PM me your email address so that I can send it to you more easily.

Thanks, folks! Smiley

For the curious, here are the candidates so far:

Republicans
President George H.W. Bush
Pat Buchanan

Democrats
Bill Clinton
Jerry Brown
Bob Kerrey
Paul Tsongas
Tom Harkin
Mario Cuomo
Al Gore
Joe Biden
(...and probably Bob Casey, Sr., although he'd consistently poll at Kucinich levels for his strong pro-life views.)

Independents
Ross Perot

Great news, Scott!

For a starting base that seems like a suitable cast of candidates (considering how minor or obscure people like Agran, Paul or Duke would be), I'd love to play the beta once it's available.

Thanks!

Yeah, I considered adding more parties, but I doubt there are many people out there who want to play as freaking Andre Marrou. Tongue

Bob Casey I just added, because the Democratic Party was still fairly big-tent on social issues at this point and I feel like the primary needs a token pro-lifer for people who want to play as one.

I can email you the beta version when it's available.  It will be in a .zip folder, so it will be easier for me to send you if you PM me an email address.

This sounds like a great scenario; I've been waiting for a good 1992 scenario for ages, and deffo want to help get this one going.

Have you had any trouble with the Democratic Primary? A previous 1992 game I played had an awful Democratic primary (wrong dates for primaries, polling off etc) I feel like Clinton is impossible to model within President Infinity (much like Trump)

Clinton starts off as the frontrunner, but a Cuomo candidacy (which is not switched on automatically) creates an interesting dynamic (as would have happened if Clinton and Cuomo had both ran IRL).

I'm remodeling the entire thing from the 2008 scenario, but I've gone through the painstaking process of changing some issues, switching endorsers (about 3/4 done), setting the appropriate primary dates, finding decent pictures of all the candidates, writing bios, descriptions, etc.

I know the scenario you're referring to, and I think the designer of that one just didn't put in the time.  Making a good scenario takes work.

Is this for PF 2008 or 2016?

Isn't President Infinity basically the same thing as PF 2016?

Nope, the interfaces are different and P4E no longer receives updates periodically.  PI does.

Ron Paul actually formed an exploratory committee as a Republican but dropped out and endorsed Buchanan. Might be an interesting addition.

How about I add him as a veep candidate for Buchanan?  He'd be a better pick than what I originally had in mind (Ezola Foster - Buchanan's 2000 running mate).

The GOP primary itself will be non-competitive.

All endorsers have been switched and testing the game myself so far, I haven't encountered any errors.

I'm thinking of more events to add between October 1991-November 1992.  So far I have:

- LA riots
- Perot exiting and reentering the race
- Clinton's 'Sister Souljah' moment
- Clinton playing the saxophone on Arsenio Hall
- The recession (unemployment rises periodically like it does in 2012)

What other significant events am I missing?  The Gennifer Flowers scandal happened months before the start of the game.

Could you be more specific?  Bush pardoned some people involved with Iran-Contra after his loss, but I don't recall that being an issue during the 1992 election.

At the end of the General Election, New Information surfaced that as VP, Bush was involved despite saying he wasn't in 1988. He was catching up in the Polls and it was only a few days until the Election. You know what happened next

The beta version is finished and has been sent out to testers!  If you don't see it in your inbox, it is either in your junk mail folder or I was not able to send it to you because I didn't get an email address.

For a second I read the partial title as "1992 President Inhofe".

All the candidate bios have been written, so we look to be about 99% done here.

Beta testers: please let me know either via email or PM how the game has worked for you, whether or not you enjoyed it, how it can be improved, and any other thoughts you have about the scenario.  The more honest, the better.  My goal to release the full version to 270soft is mid-to-late June.

How do you deal with the rise and fall of Perot's popularity? Most 1992 scenarios I've played give Perot around 9% of the vote, which severely cripples a candidacy which could make the race very interesting at 20+% nationally.

Looks Promising!

Expectations for Perot ('goals' as they are in the game) are set very low, so to "win" as Perot you would only need to crack a certain percentage of the popular vote.

Unfortunately, it's hard to simulate Perot's exiting and then reentering the race, but those events occur regardless and affect Perot's momentum appropriately.  I think he has a pretty high floor in this game, though.

And, thank you. Smiley
