Does this take into account that in a lot of these races, female candidates were leading the pack in fundraising and were simply the strongest candidates in the race?

Pretty lazy analysis, but there is obviously a bias in Dem primaries towards minorities and women, as these make up a larger share of the primary electorate than the general electorate and people tend to vote for those with similar race / gender as themselves, all else being equal.
