Too bad I'm not in school, or I'd join him.

It's up to us non-students to enroll in school again and then announce our intention to boycott once accepted!

I can't say that I'm opposed to this idea. One of the most effective ways of forcing change is to go on strike, but only if it's large enough in size and those on strike remain unified. So, while I doubt this goes anywhere if it does happen to catch on, I'd certainly support it (morally, since I'm not in a k-12 school or a parent).

In a little under a month.

Needless to say, this is a mess of an idea.

One of my best friends dated his daughter when they lived in Arlington. He's actually a cool guy, and his family is nice too. This is a stupid idea, and his children go to a fancy university "lab" school in Chicago. I doubt he would ever actually pull them out.

I would not be opposed to a one-day, full nation-wide "strike" by all students (maybe just the high school kids), but not something that goes on long-term.

Isn't that what the walkout was? Besides, the school year is almost over so there's hardly any time to do so.

Better yet, parents need to start forking it out and sending their kids to parochial school.  We wouldn’t have any of these problems, the brothers would beat it out.

When the 4/20 walkouts were initially announced, this was Lane Murdock’s plan. There’s a good reason she changed her mind.

This is no better than the American Family Association telling parents to pull their kids out of school to protest liberal indoctrination.

"Homeschooling" by my understanding has a very, VERY loose definition.

Anyway, no. Bad, BAD idea. Sure it would probably work, but there are better, albeit slower, ways of getting change.

Arne Obama: pulling your kids out of public schools undermines those schools.
Also Arne Obama: unless it is to demand the obliteration of the bill of rights.

Very in-your-face. It reminds me of the bold civil disobedience done by Larry Kramer and the ACT UP movement. It's probably not workable, but admirable in theory: if your opponents can easily tune out your actions, then you're failing as activists. You have to make yourself completely unignorable.

(Though the quickest way for social conservatives to support gun control, as evidenced by the Reagan years in California, is have left-leaning minorities start buying guns.)
