Sometimes I do feel like they just go against what Trump stands for for the sake of it. You can stand on that policy ground, but it's kinda dickish if it's just because the president, who you don't like, stands for it.

If Flake is aiming to be a 'contrarian' he's doing a remarkably poor job of it seeing as he votes in line with Trump's postion 85% of the time

They like most of his policy, but I really don't see what is the problem of liking the majority of someone's policies and still opposing him because of clear incompetence, grave moral failure and some extremely bad policies.

While Flake has been very critical of Trump on a personal issue when it comes to his behavior, he still votes very much in line with Trump on the overwhelming majority of issues.  And while Kasich has flipped or softened his stances on a number of issues over the past couple years, he's still aligned with Trump and the GOP on the majority of issues.  It's more that he's become so disillusioned with the current state of GOP that he no longer feels the need to tow the party line, and that's why we have seen him move more to the center.  Not to mention he's term limited as governor, so he's not beholden to special interest groups, and he's not likely to run for another office  unless he tries to run for president as a more moderate Republican and in order to do so he needs to actually be more moderate like he has become.

Kasich, yes.

Flake, no.

Kasich is doing this for his own self-serving purposes.  Flake appears to be genuinely offended by Trump and appears to be honestly concerned by policy matters.  He's allowed his political career to be run into the ground because of it.

I've called Flake "Jeffy Flaky" here.  I repent of that.  Flake, while I don't always agree with him, at least appears somewhat principled in his actions.  Kasich is in it for Kasich.

Regardless of their motivations, no and no. They genuinely abhor Trump, which is easy to do.
