There's no question that it will be Charles. And no reason to think he won't be as long-lived as his mother, or his mother's mother. Or his father.
I think the monarchy will survive... in England. Australia, New Zealand, etc. are more likely to go Republic under Charles.
Charles might also surprise some people, since he favors progressive politics and is more outspoken about it.
