Both led corrupt administrations and left a legacy that affected our country for the worse. I'm really having a hard time with this one.

Reagan, and this isn’t a liberal/conservative thing.

Good God, this.

I'm not a huge fan of Reagan, but Reagan>>>>>>>>>Nixon. Aside from running the most unethical administration in U.S. history, Nixon engaged to an unprecedented degree in race-baiting to lure away Democratic voters, pointlessly prolonged the Vietnam War, and presided over the decline of the economy into that awful period known as the 1970s. Almost all of the good things that happened under were him were because he signed a bill passed by the Democratic Congress. He does deserve credit for detente and opening relations with China, but his foreign policy was otherwise pretty unimpressive.

Hard to see why many liberals here prefer Nixon when Trump is an even worse version of him.

Both were monsters with few redeeming qualities to speak of, so it's really weird that our red avatars are having such an easy time declaring Nixon to be the obvious choice? I'll say Nixon is marginally worse, but it really could go both ways.

The one who didn't take advantage of conflicts and escalate them for his own benefit.

Nixon actually withdrew more and more troops from Vietnam each year he was in office

Nixon deliberately sabotaged the Paris peace talks to strengthen his hand in the 1968 presidential campaign, and when he had won, decided the best way to end the war was to start a second war in Cambodia. Bringing (some) troops home was literally the least he could do.
