I've noticed that there are 7 counties that have swung Democratic in every election since 1988. Baltimore and Howard in MD, Durham in NC, Clayton in GA and Contra Costa, Alameda and San Fran in CA. In fact the CA counties swung to Mondale as well so their record goes back even further. Just one more little stat to show how far some of the suburbs have trended since the Reagan era. I'm guessing that if 2000 was excluded from the list it'd show the trend of some suburbs even more.
