Gen-X
One of the smallest generations ever in American History, but yet we invented Punk Rock and Hip-Hop, not to mention throw in a bit of Heavy Metal....
An American Punk song from the band
Reagan Youth perhaps describes how many of us felt way back in '84 when Ronald Reagan was running for reelection...
We are the sons of Reagan heil
We're gonna kill all pagans heil
The right's our sacred mission
We'll start an inquisition
We're gonna purge the heathen kind
Cause' we are
Reagan youth heil, heil, heil
Reagan youth heil, heil, heil
Reagan youth seig heil
We are the sons of Reagan heil
We are the godforsaken heil
The right is our religion
We all watch television
Drugs have fried our brainwashed minds
We are the sons of Reagan heil
We are the unawakened heil
We want another war
Forward to El Salvador
We're gonna kill some communists
Cause' we are
Reagan youth heil, heil, heil
Reagan youth heil, heil, heil
Reagan youth seig heil Throw in a bit of The Adolescents: Kids of the Black HoleNo sound is heard from unit two
When there was once so much to do
Was once a green mansion, but now it's a wasteland
Our days of wreckless fun are through
GO!
Kids in a fast lane living for today
No rules to abide by and no one to obey
Sex, drugs and fun is their only thought and care
Another swig of brew another overnight affair
House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
Kids of the black hole
Messages and slogans are the primary decor
History's recorded in a clutter on the floor
Inhabitants that searched the grounds for roaches or spare change
Another night of chaos is so easy to arrange
House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
Kids of the black hole
The nights of birthdays
The nights of fry
The nights of endless drinking
The nights of violence
The nights of noise
The nights that had to end for good, still not understood, by the girls and boys
Carefree in their actions as for morals they had none
When the girls were horny who would be the lucky ones?
Pushing all the limits to a point of no return
Trashed beyond belief to show the kids don't wanna learn
House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids

Reagan Youth: Sons of Reagan Youthhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V47_DQ3WT6cAdolescents: Kids of the Black Holehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifq24lljbQMWe are the forgotten generation, that suffered the most at the hands of the "Reagan Recession"...
We are the generation where single-parent households became the norm, rather than the exception.
We are the generation regaled with stories from out parents about their marches for Civil Rights and against the Vietnam War.
We are the generation that are children of Vietnam Vets that came home traumatized by their War experiences...
We are the generation that fought in the trenches for LBG equality (In an era where even in Progressive Democratic precincts this still considered to be odd even as a Straight Ally)
We created our own music and sub-cultures regardless of racial and ethnic background, believing that despite the Nightmare we were living under in the Reagan era that overall times would get better, and if need be we can Do It Yourself (DIY).
We are the Generation betrayed by our Baby Boomer parents that although they professed and self-promoted as the Generation of change, created and listened to some awesome rock music, ultimately sold us down the river for their own self-centered egoist self-identification as entitled "Baby Boomers", and left us all to rot underneath the sacred altars of their own personal economic security, while we are left holding the narrow crumbs remaining after the Full-Tilt Republican and Neo-Liberal Democratic assault on the last vestiges remaining of the New Deal and the Welfare State...
Sell outs.... * Spits metaphorically on ground *
Not even going into the cultural impacts of Hip-Hop and Heavy Metal, let alone Classic rock among my generation.
Much of the Millennial Generation has parents who are Gen-X, so if nothing else we are the generation that created current bonfire burning as our kids are raising the torch forward....
Proud to be a Gen-X
