Glimpses into Election Night

Polls are now closed in Virginia, and we can immediately call the 5th and 10th districts for Democrats, two more flips in a night shaping up to be a bloodbath.

Democratic candidate Richard Ojeda has just flipped West Virginia’s 3rd Congressional District, which voted 77% for Donald Trump.

Paul Nehlen, the Republican candidate in Speaker Ryan’s old district, has lost the district.

Richard Cordray has beaten Mike Dewine in the Ohio Gubernatorial.

Polls are now closed in the Wyoming Senate Race, and it is currently too early to call.

The Mississippi Senate Race is now certain to go to a runoff. Democratic candidate Mike Espy has fallen short of the 50% mark, and will go to a runoff with incumbent Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith.

In state legislative races, Democrats have now picked up more than a thousand seats.

Democrats now appear likely to pass 300 house seats, and there are still many uncalled.

Texas’s 19th district can now be called for the Democratic party.

The Democratic party now has trifectas in 24 states.

The Texas gubernatorial race is still too close to call.

Democrats now have won 52 of the 53 House seats in California, knocking out Kevin McCarthy, current House Speaker.

Susan Collins announces decision to consider switching parties.

Why? There needs to be consequences for her vote on the tax bill. She needs to be defeated, and not be allowed to defect.

Then primary her in 2020, she'll probably lose a Dem primary. But another Democratic vote in the Senate is great.

Yeah in this landslide scenario it'd flip much faster than SC, WY or SD.

Nonwithstanding that, this was a fun little timeline, good job! I liked the headlines especially Tongue
