There are more parts of Pittsburgh that look like an actual city, not a war zone..so that.

I guess it's a bit of an unfair competition given that the city proper in Pittsburgh is in much, much better shape.

I've seen how bad Detroit is, but how bad is Cleveland?

I'd say it falls in between, but closer to Detroit in the sense that there are very few professional class people in the city proper.

Cleveland has some very nice streetcar suburbs though and some excellent cultural institutions such as its art museum and symphony orchestra.

I'm sure all have their charms, but I'll go with Pittsburgh.

Detroit and Cleveland are having revivals in their cores, it's just that they lost so many residents, especially Detroit that it's hard to recover.

The city of Detroit also covers a large land area.  So the few square miles of downtown/midtown that's undergoing revitalization only represents a small part of it.

If you include metros, Detroit.  Otherwise, it's close between Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

Yeah, Detroit's metro is probably in the best shape of the three.

I know nothing about Pittsburgh. Cleveland was nice enough when I went to the World Series, but I figure its a bit more dreary when the city isn't LIT with world series excitement.
