In 1952, the Republicans won control of the House from the Democrats.  This is actually the last time that a party has flipped the House in a presidential election.  Every other time the House has changed power since - 1954, 1994, 2006, and 2010 - occurred during a midterm.

Why do you think this is?

The party in power usually energizes the opposition to vote against them.
