I wonder which County will produce the most decisive result against this.

My prediction: This will carry Modoc and Lassen but nothing else.

Unlikely, this plan would put them in a solid blue state with San Francisco and that's definitely not what they want.

They will probably see "split California" and vote Yes without reading the rest.

No, it's quite foolish. CA is one state and I don't support dividing my beloved homestate. Improve things were necessary, but don't break it up.

Democrats should split Rhode Island into sixteen different states.

I guess I just don't understand what the point of this is.  It's never going through, so is it just to make a point?  Or do the people pushing it actually believe it has a shot?

They'd get a lot of Republican states out of it, then. Only the Providence core and a couple beach/college towns are solid Dem, it's just where 60%+ of the population live.

Now this has officially qualified for the ballot: http://elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov/ballot-measures/pdf/1814-finalrandomsample-6-12-18.pdf

It will fail miserably though.

Most advocates of CA division are pissed off conservatives, and this wouldn't even address that because two states would be solid D and the other tossup at best, and trending D fast anyway.

At first I was annoyed at such a stupid stupid and divisive issue even going on the ballot. However, it's going to be so soundly trounce bike voters across the board. I question whether it'll win a single County. Best of all, it sucks money away from this billionaire twat who would otherwise surely spend it on other equally egregious, but potentially more successful, political causes.

Of course it won't win a single county. Even if Del Norte wasn't going to be grouped with San Francisco, Del Norte probably wouldn't vote for it, but you can be sure that Del Norte county isn't particularly interested in joining a smaller state that has San Francisco.

Funny enough, California did vote to split in 2 in an amazing case of bad timing right before the civil war.

This is not even in the top 5 of state boundary changes I'd prefer to see, and separating LA from OC is insane

Stop trying to make multiple Californias happen. It's not going to happen.

A north/south split makes sense, but this proposal doesn't.
