This is a 4-2-2 map. Colored accordingly.

2 majority AA districts, 1 plurality. The district north of Baltimore is D+1.5 and the district south is D+2.9. The Delmarva district is R+9.64 and Western Maryland is R+11.23

How? Republicans can expect mid 30's to low 40's across the state and in this map only get 25%. With a D tilt in the two competitive districts a GOPer winning would have to really earn it.

100x better than the current map, and I don't think it's a gerrymander at all.

It is hard to evaluate a map when one cannot see the county lines. But the main thing that would off-put many people, is that your Eastern Shore CD crosses the bay to take in Calvert County, where there are no bridge or ferry connections whatsoever. In some states, I think it is illegal to do that. And it is certainly against the Muon2 rules.

In a heavily democratic state why should republicans be able to win half the seats?

Yes, Calvert-Eastern Shore is unacceptable without some other connection.

IMO Maryland maps that link the eastern shore with the west through anywhere other than Harford should be illegal--preferring an oceanic connection over a river one is indefensible, even if both are accessible by road. It's like linking Metairie with Mandeville via the Lake Ponchartrain causeway when good ol' fashioned land is right there.

Frankly, I'm of the opinion that ferry connections should never be considered as any sort of link as well.

How would you have handled Staten Island and US Michigan before the bridges were built? Since they are both less than a congressional district, I suppose you could simply let the rest of the state elect all the representatives. We can do the same for the Neighbor Islands in Hawaii, and San Juan and Island counties in Washington. In Alaska, we can limit voting to areas with road connections to Anchorage.
