Good, thankfully the female vote will coalesce around Zwahlen or Madueno now. As we saw in IL-6, having too many women on the ballot results in too scattered of a field.

Wouldn't Denham take up most of the R votes?  I'd think a RvR race is almost impossible, even with all the Dem candidates.

Gary Miller won his last term in a safe D district this way. Miller, the "incumbent," didn't take up that many R votes.

Logically. It's not like he has done anything to anger his base, or to attract attention from any law enforcement agency like Rorabacher and Hunter Jr.

That happened immediately after redistricting, so Miller wasn't exactly the typical incumbent.

Why did Bob Dutton primary challenge Gary Miller? Did Miller anger his base or not?

I guess it's possible, but Howze would need the near perfect storm to get the second spot.   At the very most he's going to get ~15% of the vote, and he'd need none of the Dem candidates to rise above any of the rest.
