Clinton won thanks to her overwhelming support in ethnic ghettos.

You mean Polish, Jewish, or Italian ghettos?

What's the goal of this comment?

Obviously I meant Black and Hispanic ghettos.

Obviously.

So Mortimer considers all major population centres in the US to be 'ethnic ghettos'?

Yes, but don't call him racist or deplorable because Chuck Todd, Jake Tapper, and many Atlas members will be very upset.

Hasn't the GOP been the big winner in recent congressional reapportionments? That would indicate that those places are a tad more dynamic.

She's not wrong. And I suspect that in context it doesn't sound as bad as the haters are spinning it.

Cue everyone being offended by Clinton acknowledging the reality while continuing to give everyone who uses "coastal elites" a pass as millions of average Californians, New Yorkers, etc... get written off.  Her acknowledging the situation doesn't mean she views those people as lesser; talking about the racial motivations that Trump exploited for his path to victory is something that needs to be spoken about candidly rather than swept under the rug of 'economic anxiety'.

What about the racial motivations of people who voted for Clinton? Clinton supporters openly say their goal is to make the country less white. Nancy Pelosi was crying on the house floor talking about how beautiful it was.

Hillary was caught in the difficult situation of dealing with a media typhoon focused solely on her opponent.

Even with the FBI on her side busily coaching the Democratic Party on how to get surveillance on Trump, she still cocked it up.

The same FBI that tripped her up a few days before the election?

You know what's funny? Ron Brownstein is saying exactly the same thing for more than a year now, yet nobody is bothered.
Goes to show wihat kind of deranged, misogynistic douches are all these people who are clutching their pearls right now.

I like how when a Democrat says something unflattering for Appalachia or some other backwater place everyone attacks him for being elitist, out of touch, condescending, etc.

But when a Republican talks derisively/disparagingly about New York, San Francisco, Chicago, that's "smart politics".

Pretty big difference, as I'm sure you are already aware.  A Republican talking derisively/disparagingly about New York, San Francisco or Chicago is more analogous with a Democrat talking that way about "the 1%" or "millionaires" who should "pay their fair share."  A Democrat saying something unflattering about Appalachia - some of the more vulnerable GOP voters - would be more like a Republican saying unflattering things openly about poor and vulnerable Democrats, such as the dirt poor Black Belt voters or inner city neighborhoods that have terrible crime, terrible schools, terrible life expectancy statistics and vote 90%+ Democratic.

The Democrats can get away with trashing poor Republicans; the Republicans absolutely cannot make fun of poor Democrats, as many of them are people of color, and it would be racist.  I'm not saying that's not fair necessarily, but there are very nice places that vote Republican/Democrat, and really shltty places that vote Republican/Democrat ... open discourse only allows us to trash one set.

She isn't wrong. She was just giving an accurate depiction of her wins in places that have improved since 2008, vs stagnating and declining. That's objectively correct.

Yeah, places like Vermont, Illinois, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New Mexico are really dynamic and moving forward
optimistic too!  She doesn't know the people that voted for her anymore than she knows the people that didn't.

The places she doesn't consider "forward and dynamic" used to be until her husband's disastrous trade policies.
