D vs. R, 90% chance, 100% if there is only one D candidate.

If there are 2 D candidates and 7 or 8 Republicans it's plausible to be D vs. D, but that's highly unlikely.

Most likely D vs R.  Could be R vs R (something like a Reeves/McDaniel runoff), but Republicans are smart enough to not cannibalize themselves here and make it D vs D.

Who would win a Reeves vs. McDaniel runoff? Maybe Reeves with the help of Democrats?

A runoff between McDaniel and an establishment Republican would almost certainly be won by the establishment candidate with help from Democrats.  A Espy/Presley Democratic split in the primary might be enough to generate an R vs R contest IMO

Mississippi isn't at the level of partisanship California is to lock out the Democrats.

Not that I can speak for all MS Dems, but if I were a Democratic voter in MS I might seriously consider voting for McDaniel to win an R-vs.-R run-off in hopes of beating him in 2020.

McDaniel would have the advantage of incumbency if he wins. He would not lose in 2020.

Most likely - D vs. R.  I expect a lot of Republican candidates (what precludes R-R runoff with even one good Democratic candidate), but still - not enough for Democrats to get D-D chance.
