What are the "dos and don'ts" of uselectionatlas?

I am talking not just about the basic rules, but things that the majority think are unacceptable, inappropriate or go against the majority opinion.

For example, creating posts about oneself are usually frowned upon by many members.

Defending Trump is often met with criticism.
Spelling and grammar errors are usually tolerated very "liberally".
Creating bizarre or other crazy types of topics are often seen as trolling.
There is (in my opinion) a tendency to be a little politically correct.
Certain words or phrases are unpopular.

I am sure there are many other pet peeves you all have about the topics and style of certain posters.
So, I am curious if any of you have any comments for this thread.

People freak out of Limo Liberal and King Lear too much honestly but I guess I'm de-sensetive to pessimistic posters largely becuase I post on weather forums a lot where people tend to be very pessimistic.

Do's:
Be somewhat of a policy wonk
Obsess over policy wonks or geographically unique candidates
Post in Forum Community a lot
Respect people who you don't agree with

Don't's:
Oppose gay marriage and believe that trans people shouldn't exist
Praise TYT
Praise Justice Democrats
Try to avoid making all your posts in the 2020 board.

Don'ts:
-Support any candidate Atlas Dems decide is a "DINO" (which somehow includes Tulsi Gabbard and Dennis Kucinich but leaves out most actual conservadems).

-Defend a candidate or a party within moderation of other atlas users, don’t purposely try to slander an atlas user’s beliefs or posts or take certain posts out of context.
-Being lightly obscene occasionally from  time to time won’t met with criticism (heavy or frequent posting about racism, anti-semitism, homophobia or bigotry of any kind will not be tolerated and will result in ban)
-trolling atlas users from time to is okay, but if your account constantly trolls other user’s experience on the atlas, it will result in you being banned.
-If you are going to talk about about persecuted minorities on this server, you must do it in a scholarly manner. don’t explain it using slurs or it will be met with a ban
-constant derailing of topics that other user’s have posted will result in a ban.
-if you are openly coming to this server as a despised political ideology(such as a National Socialist) you shall behave yourself or you will be banned.
-don’t give out any personal information about any atlas users, you will be banned.

• Don't comment on a thread without being prepared to back up your position with actual evidence. You'll get killed in a debate and make yourself look foolish if you just use empty rhetoric.

After three years Atlas (can't believe it's already that long), I'd say:


Dos

- Be very intersted in US politics and history
- Make mostly informed posts, but some irony is also not wrong
- Respect other opinion within the democratic (small d) spectrum, be respectful
- Be mature, but don't take everything too serious
- Make posts in various sections
- Take a somewhat normal/neutral Username
- BONUS, absolute must have: Know all US states on a map!


Don'ts

- Don't bump old threads without a constructive post
- Don't make more than 30 posts a day regularly
- Stupid or too large signatures
- Don't insult people or wish for bad things to happen on them
- Don't be a fan of Woodrow Wilson, Andrew Cuomo or JB Pritzker
- Don't rig election games
