Only Dublin has any counts declared yet in Ireland, north or south.

Count 7, 4 seats to be elected but the last candidate elected won't take their seat unless/until Brexit happens, quota 72,790

Cuffe (Green) 64,853
Fitzgerald (FG) 59,448
Andrews (FF) 51,997
Daly (Ind 4 Change) 43,400
Boylan (SF) 40,045
Gannon (Soc Dem) 21,002
White (Lab) 18,942
Durkan (FG) 16,733
Brien (PBP) 11,730
Higgins (Ind) 11,434
O'Doherty (Ind) 8,661
Gilroy (Ind) 8,511
Harrold (PBP) 5,607 eliminated

Still quite a lot of eliminations to go.  I assume Cuffe and Fitzgerald will be in and it may be between Daly and Andrews for who is elected third and fourth.

(RTE results link, which covers Northern Ireland as well: https://www.rte.ie/news/elections-2019/results/#/european )

Considering that nearly all of the lower-down votes are for lefties, Daly has to be nailed on for the third seat. Andrews should be strongly favored for the 4th seat but I guess Boylan can’t be ruled out completely.

looking likely that Alliance will get the third seat in NI.

Seems as if Lega did much better than the exit poll suggested, M5S a bit worse. Hope M5S' losses don't undermine the stability of the coalition. Though I expected them to fare much worse at this point.

I imagins Salvini will be tempted to call an early election to get rid of the Starmen.

This does not compute. Smiley 684/1666 is about 41%.

A Turk was elected to be an MEP in Cyprus as an AKEL candidate. He is the first Turk to be elected to a national office since the Turks withdrew from the government in 1963.

The partisan makeup is the same as before:
DISY (EPP) 2
AKEL (GUE-NGL) 2
DIKO (S&D) 1
EDEK (S&D) 1

A DISY MEP split to form her own party in 2016 as a member of the ECR group, and ran for re-election in a join list with DIKO but lost.
ELAM (Cypriot Golden Dawn) almost defeated EDEK for a seat.
The gap between the governing DISY and AKEL has significantly tightened, in part due to increased Turkish turnout.

Popular vote:
DISY (EPP) - 29.0% (-8.8%)
AKEL (GUE-NGL) - 27.5% (+0.5%)
DIKO (S&D) - 13.8% (+3.0%)
EDEK (S&D) - 10.6% (+2.9%)
ELAM (NI) - 8.3% (+5.6%)
DIPA - 3.8% (+3.8%)
SYPOL/KOSP (G/EFA/ALDE) - 3.3% (-3.5%)
Giasemi - 1.7% (+1.7%)

They're slowly counting the full vote in Sweden now - only 73/6305 precincts in.

Exciting for the Liberals - their preliminary result was 4.1% and the threshold to get into parliament is 4%. They're currently below 4% in the count and these are precints they did better than their national average in last time. But obviously this is mega early so you can't actually extrapolate from it.

Doesn't their electorate turn out disproportionately well in lower-turnout elections though?

Probably yes, but they're also extremely unpopular and their fanatical pro-EU stance isn't a great vote-winner either.

Like, their GE base at this point is probably like 3.5% and then you got to subtract for having lost their top candidate in a scandal, replacing her with a nobody, being in the midst of a leadership struggle and campaigning on Sweden joining the Euro.

I still think they make it in but it's probably something like 1/3 chance they don't.

So Korwin Mikke gets no seats?

Also, if this was the result in the general election PiS would still keep it's majority? (Not sure if you can extrapolate or not)

Amazing result. Huge PiS, Confederacy out (which presumably means they'll be in shambles and fighting each other long before the parliamentary election too).

Korwin no seats, Kukiz no seats. Yeah, and PiS would have majority. And what is funny record high Polish representation in S&D group.

In Malta, the Nationalist Party receives its worst result since 1951, after a failed attempt to spin the rumour that Labour were planning on legalising abortion (even as Malta has rapidly got more socially liberal in recent years, they have not touched that taboo) and pledging to constitutionally ban it. This probably means Labour scores the highest percentage in the EU? (have't checked yet) Another fresh mandate for Joseph Muscat and his insanely corrupt government.

In the third party stakes (not that anyone cares about third parties in Malta, given how rigidly partisan the electorate are) the far right got 3% and "third prize". These far rightists are called Imperium Europa, and want to create a united Europe or as they describe it in their platform: "a Europid bond forged through Spirituality closely followed by Race, nurtured through High culture, protected by High Politics, enforced by The Elite."  The Democratic Party, a split from Labour who ran with the Nats last time round, got 2%, although intriguingly their socon leader got less first preferences than his running mate, a Swedish social liberal and environmental activist who publicly criticized the party's support for a constitutional abortion ban (which is something for Malta, where the electorate don't tend to break the party's list orders). The traditional third party, the Greens, are nowhere: they had quite a tiff and split during the campaign because their candidate, a non-binary transgender person, broke the ultimate taboo and said they supported the right to an abortion.

H.C. Strache (FPÖ) elected to the EU parliament via preference votes.

He got so many write-in votes that he received a basic mandate.

Used to find him funny, but his alliance engaged in a thoroughly antisemitic campaign (basically shouting "PiS are bought by the Jews" very loudly) and their troll army on Twitter is horrible. Also don't really like Korwin's economically libertarian streak.

in all fairness, the plural "federalists" is stretching it. It's basically just one dude who has spent years developing his bizarre theories, which includes the importance of martial arts and the formation of his own artistic style "Dionysian Action Painting". He does have at least one famous fans though (Tender might be interested in this page):

There has basically always been a vaguely European nationalist current of white-supremicism since the end of World War 2. IIRC guys like Jean Thiriart and Jeune Europe had this whole European as a nation meaning "White Europe" ideology that was quite widespread among outright neo-nazis.

The list I voted for (Hamon's Génération.s) won 3.3%. That's better than I expected honestly.
Tbh, the left as a whole did better than expected in France - obvious "Green Surge" and the PS list clung of for life slightly better than expected. If I've got my numbers right, the various left wing lists got about 36% of the vote in all - when the polls had them below 30%.

Also Renaud Camus' list got 0,01%. Hahahahaha!

I just want to add that while currently whole Internet is talking about PiS vs PO obviously, some smaller segment of it is talking about why Konfederacja lost and while others are talking that chances to get 5% are nice Korwin thinks that coalition is pointless and they should let him talk about "that this whole campaign against pedophilia is nonsense".

Council areas where the Tories got above 15%:

Dumfries and Galloway (Scotland) - 21.1%
South Ayrshire (Scotland) - 20.4%
Perth and Kinross (Scotland) - 19.5%
Scottish Borders (Scotland) - 18.9%
Aberdeenshire (Scotland) - 18.0%
Hertsmere (East) - 17.7%
Moray (Scotland) - 17.5%
East Renfrewshire (Scotland) - 17.4%
Angus (Scotland) - 17.2%
Harrow (London) - 15.2%
South Bucks (South East) - 15.2%
Stirling (Scotland) - 15.1%

Apparently this is the first election since 1955 where the Tories have done better (though in this case less badly would be more accurate) in Scotland than in England.
