It would take a massive realignment of black voters. Maryland is actually the state I think is least likely to go R in the next 50-100 years.

How about appealing to those voters?

They can't, unless the Democratic nominee is Jill Stein or someone that far out there.

It's probably the last state they would win (pending maybe CA, but I don't think the Clinton 2016 trend holds there for the long term), so the answer is basically a Harding 1920 size national win.

The one obvious answer to all these threads of "How can Republicans win (insert solid D state) at the presidential level?" would be a third-party candidacy from the left.

Trump probably would've carried 45 states in a Trump/Clinton/Sanders race, even if his PV margin would've decreased.
