This man should be prosecuted for criminally negligent homicide.

I don't see why this one guy should be scapegoated for what seems to be SOP for the boys in blue: placing the safety of their lives above those of the public.

No one ever said the damn shooting was Trump's fault, but to you people he is the real victim in all of this.

You're never going to get through to him, you know. If his posts are anything to go by, there's so much lead accumulated in his brain that you could stick a kitchen magnet to his forehead.

I refuse to call the officer names or blame him. I do, however, think it is an excellent example of why a "good guy with a gun" is not the answer. The shooter went to this school. He knew where the officers were. He would know where armed teachers were, too, and would get the jump on them.

This. The shooting wasn't this guy's fault- he acted very wrongly and did not perform his duty, but saying that the students should march to the sheriff's office is ridiculous and cynical. Yes, keep looking for anyone else to blame in every shooting- here the FBI malfunctioned, there it was mental problems, and there it's the resource officer. Never guns. Always something else, even though you're still the only country in the western world getting dozens of shootings a year. This, again, shows how little pro-gun folks care about stopping the shootings. They just don't care to do anything productive, that's the only conclusion I can draw from this latest fiasco.
But when a Muslim performs a terror attack it's Radical Islamic Terrorism, never mental health, or the resource officer (which, by the way, is correct- it's just hypocritical to call out the larger problem in these cases and not in shootings).

No excuses, he deserves plenty of the burden here...he isn't simply a "good guy with a gun" he's a trained officer. If he's folding under the pressure of kids being slaughtered he should have never signed up for the job, this is honestly criminal negligence.

This guy isn't some low rent security guard or poorly trained resource officer, he is the damn deputy for crying out loud! Any excuses for this behavior is in line with those who say a cop feared for his life when he murdered an unarmed kid.
