Vice President Tim Kaine resigned his Senate seat that he was elected to in 2012. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe declares that November 2017, simultaneously with the Virginia governor's election, will be the Virginia special Senate election to fill the remainder of Kaine's seat.

Virginia Rep. Barbara Comstock wins the Virginia Republican Senate primary; Virginia Rep. Bobby Scott wins the Virginia Democratic Senate primary.

Comstock vs. Scott becomes a bitter battle over white suburban and black voters. Who wins?

Given Clinton is now President, Comstock would win, by a narrow margin. Making matters worse, Democrats fail to pick up Comstock's seat, and have an unessecarily close special election in Scott's seat (which is won by Jennifer McClellan).

Barbara Comstock (R) 49%
Bobby Scott (D) 47%

I imagine Comstock, Gillespie, Vogel, and Adams are all elected by similar margins, with Vogel performing the best, followed by Comstock, Adams, and Gillespie last.

VA-Sen Special:
Representative Barbara Comstock:  50.17%
Representative Bobby Scott:  47.83%
Other:  2%
