What if former Minnesota governor Arne Carlson (1991-1999), a moderate, had been the 2000 Republican nominee? Could he have won? Discuss with maps and VPs.

Carlson would probably have a slight advantage, I imagine he does significantly better than Bush in the Northeast, Rust Belt, and West Coast, while doing worse in the South. the map might look something like this:
