Unless you've been living under a rock, you may have heard that congress is hurdling for a government shutdown on Friday. The GOP lacks the votes to pass a CR and the Democrats will not comply unless a DACA deal is included. If the government shuts down, who will you blame?

I should also add: Who do you think the public will blame?

Both. the public square is largely a fail these days. It needs healing from the bottom up, by whatever remaining mature concerned adults are still out there.

The GOP was wrong for their role in the shutdown during the Obama years.

The Democrats will be to blame for this one.  As the Dreamers are not American citizens, it is unconscionable that the Democrats would allow a government shutdown on their behalf.

Even though the effort to restore DACA is a bipartisan attempt that is supported by 81% of Americans?

This is not a both sides issues. Republicans control all three branches of the government.

None of this would happen if the GOP didn't make a fascist president. QED the entirety of the blame rests on their shoulders.

There was a bi-partisan deal on DACA already. (And if that was resolved, we wouldn't be in this stalemate situation.)
But then some nationalist, Nazi idiot(s) started to whisper bs in the Orange Slug's ear.
And since ManChild-in-Chief is so easily manipulated, we may now have a major problem with keeping the government running.

Blame is on trump, and thus seen as a overall GOP failure.
(And if the GOP Freedom Caucus votes to defeat any movement in the House, then it will absolutely be the GOP that will be blamed by the majority of the American people.)

Get the **** out of here with this BS.

This 100% on the GOP. They are incapable of governing and need Democrats to bail them out because half of them are nihilists. The GOP has two choices, they can cut a deal with Democrats (which they did until President Lard ass nixed it) or they pass something on their own.

They have decided no on both choices and that is on them.

For the current dispute, I blame the GOP. Both houses of Congress have a compromise immigration bill ready to go (Hurd-Aguilar in the House, Graham-Durbin in the Senate), but leadership is holding it up because they're afraid of Trump. Seriously, just grow a pair, put the country first, and vote for what you know is a good bill in sufficient enough numbers to override any potential veto.

But for creating the overall culture that allows these conflicts to manifest, I blame both sides. Political Parties have become nothing but tribal s-holes that do nothing good and only make everything worse. We should follow the model of George Washington, and not pledge our loyalty to party leadership, but instead to Country alone.

The Democratic Party does not exist right now to rubber-stamp GOP budgets when Congressional Republicans can't put together enough votes themselves. There needs to be give and take on both sides. Since Republicans control Congress and the White House, I'm not sure why the blame should fall on Democrats for a lack of a budget. They are not being unreasonable in their demands for their votes. Both things have bipartisan support. It's the Republicans who can't seem to get their act together, even with a federal trifecta.

Of course, for someone who just said it is "unconscionable" that Democrats would hold out in order to support Dreamers - people who were brought to America by their parents and thus know no other life, I doubt you'll see this as anything other than a failure of Democrats.

Yeah, I mean...considering it's looking likely that the GOP isn't even going to have a nominal majority of votes in the House - where they won/control over 55% of the seats - or the Senate (while possessing the majority in both chambers), it's a stretch to blame Democrats for anything.

Much legislation comes with a poison pill. Congress can attach all sorts of corrupt and exploitative riders to an issue like DACA that could stand on its own.

Republicans control everything in Congress; Democrats have nothing available except the opportunity to exploit splits in the GOP on issues. Democrats can now do nothing but say no to pet legislation of the President and the corporate lobbyists who dominate American politics.
