McSally now seeking her participation trophy from ducey

I look forward to beating McSally in 2020 again. What a weak candidate.

There's no way she'd beat Mark Kelly.

She wasn't that weak. She looks to lose by 2 points after the sh**ttiest primary which forced her to move to the right and she still came out bruised. The state is trending democrat and it was an open seat. Sinema also came from the central city while Mcsally came from Tucson. Sinema was free to be a moderate hero and dominate the air waves during the entire summer becase Deedra Abboud was not a threat to Sinema.

Didn't McSally and friends run an incredibly nasty campaign?

I mean, I appreciate her not going scorched earth when the votes were being counted, but is that really something we should be giving credit for now? Shouldn't that just be expected of all politicians, or is the bar that low now?

I don't doubt that Virginia, but once the horse is dead, don't keep kicking it hard.

Not really, I mean most of what she said about Sinema was true if memory serves.  Sinema is kind of the worst.

-2 in the Senate, assuming Scott holds on. Not bad, considering the map.

Yeah, it's really not bad at all. The handwringing was somewhat understandable when it looked like we'd lose AZ/MT.

Did anyone guessed that Sinema would win while Nelson would lose?

Heitkamp, Donnelly, McCaskill were already on borrowed time because of how red their states have become and I gave them 25%, 50% and 50% at best for reelection.

If you were to have told Dems early on that the Senate would end up 53-47 after the midterms, I think most would have been relieved with that, given how pessimistic people were early. Though it did happen totally different than one would have imagined (with Dems losing Nelson but winning Alabama of all places and hopes rising a lot after that).

I am very disappointed in Florida with Nelson's loss.

Heitkamp, Donnelly, McCaskill were already on borrowed time because of how red their states have become and the races were to see which one of them can eke a win one last time.

Agreed. Insanely irritated about Florida. Could've held it to R+1.

I think most of us would have assumed it was Tester going down and not Nelson in an R+2 scenario.

On a personal level I kind of see McSally and Sinema both as being very nice people behind all the scenes and political talk.   I imagine that's what kept the campaigns so civil this whole time.

Queen Kyrsten slaying us all with that graceful, poised victory speech! Our bisexual atheist moderate bipartisan hero is going to be a great senator!! I look forward to supporting her future political endeavors. Also, like everyone is saying, props to McSally for not raising false voter fraud claims. I honestly wouldn’t mind her being Kyl’s replacement...and seeing her be defeated in 2020 (and if not, then definitely 2022).
Honestly, I’m such a Sinema hack, this makes Beto, Abrams, Gillum, Nelson, Bredesen, Heitkamp, Donnelly and McCaskill all losing worth it imo.

It's over! And thank you to McSally for not being a total jack@$$ (comparatively to others in her party going nuts over these close races) and conceding.

Agree with everything above.
I was also initially cringing about what might happen in MT and AZ.

The problem for McSally is that she ran as McTrump and Arizona hates Trump.
That's why she lost.

Yep.
CNN had interviewed many women in suburban Phoenix, and the vast majority of these women said they were tired of the rhetoric from trump, and they wanted to send a message to the WH and punish the GOP by rejecting McSally.
So McSally running to trump for help during the campaign, did her in.
I'm so glad that Arizona gave the Orange Clown the middle-finger.

While I’m glad that the female suburban vote turned out for Sinema, she’s going to have to establish her profile as an active, productive Senator if she’s going to pull through in 2024 when Trump’s out of the picture. Hopefully demographics and incumbency favour her then.

I hope Sinema becomes a little more liberal now that she's in, similar to Gillibrand.

In all fairness, I give Martha McSally credit for her gracious and classy concession. Not that I endorse her political views, but seems to be a better person than I thought.

Sinema literally invoked John McCain in her victory speech. She’s going to be Hot Joe Manchin.

That actually happens a lot. There are a lot of people like that that are extremely left wing on social policy and Centrist to moderately conservative on economic and foreign policy. A lot of them still identify as having conservative religious backgrounds.

I know because I was supposed to marry a bisexual pantsuit wearer once.

The bisexual pantsuit wearers I know are mostly Catholics with almost the exact opposite of Sinema's politics, but I know my experiences are not representative.
