Kemp responds to Senator McCain in St Louis Missouri

There are lots of things to talk about in your response.

First off Bob Dole has gone on the record and regretted that decision. And that was back in 1996.

As for why I voted against those bills.

I would of voted for it however I found that there were hidden tax increases and fees in that bill. If it wasn’t for that I probably would of voted for it.

Also you voted for the February 2001 tax increases by President Gore.  That bill raised taxes on middle class families and workers and increased the deficit by billions. We gave dates and sources in that ad that are well respected

You my friend are not a champion of Free Enterprise. However there is someone that is one and he is speaking to you right now *Crowd cheers*

Mike Huckabee TV Ad - Trust

Huckabee: A lot of my opponents talk about trust and responsibility. They trust the Government. I trust you.

I trust you to choose your own child's education.

I trust you to manage your own healthcare plan.

I trust you to responsibly own a firearm.

I trust you to easily start up your own business.

You should have personal freedom from the government and you should have control over your own life.

I'm Mike Huckabee, and i'm asking for your vote.

-Aired August 15th 2004 in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina respectively.

Breaking News

North Korea Suspected of Attempt to Sale Nuclear Weapons to Iraq

Since the 1980s North Korea developped a weapons sales relationship with rogue nations like Iran, Syria and Iraq. Yesterday, in the Arabian Sea, 3 American warships intercepted a North Korean cargo that was in direction of Iraq, contained nuclear weapons and possibly attempted to orchestrate an arms sales to Saddam Hussein's Iraq, which reinforced concerns about Middle East's stability as well as the potential that Saddam Hussein is seeking to develop weapons of mass destruction.

John McCain for President 2004 - Country First
Campaign schedule August 15-August 28 2003, Part 1

So, recently our brave men and women in uniform stopped North Korea's attempt to deliver nuclear arms to Saddam Hussein's Iraq. That clearly demonstrates that Iraq is seeking to get weapons of mass destruction in order to attack the United States as well as our allies and to provide terrorists of such weapons. That clearly demonstrates that we can't afford to be inactive and passive. We have to take action against Iraq. Even Vice-President Joe Lieberman believes that we should take on Saddam Hussein militarily in order to make sure that Iraq won't ever be a safe haven for terrorism. And yet, President Gore is still not listening to the American people who is getting tired of his weak foreign policy that deprived our troops of the necessary effectives and arsenal they need to combat radical Islamic terrorism through cuts in the defense budget.

As a Vietnam War veteran, as a member of the U.S. Committee on Armed Services and of the U.S. Committee on Intelligence, I know what it takes to make sure America will win the War on Terrorism. We need to increase our defense budget in order to reinforce and modernize our military, increase the FBI's counter-terrorism budget, strengthen our alliances, strike terrorists wherever they are, establish background checks on militia groups in the Middle East before arming them and take on Al Qaeda's oil refineries. By reinforcing our military collaboration with Pakistan, we and our allies will surround and overwhelm terrorists in the Afghan-Pakistani border regions and terrorists will have a choice to make : surrender or die. By doing so, we're going to find and kill Osama Bin Laden. By intervening in Iraq and by toppling Saddam Hussein, we're going to make sure that there won't be any WMD there, that terrorists won't get such weapons and that Iraq won't be a refuge for terrorists. Freedom, justice and democracy will be restored, Iraq will be restored and will become a terrific partner for us in our fight against radical Islamic terrorism.

We can't afford 4 more years of weakness and I'm the only one who can turn the page on these four dark years.

-Flight to Milwaukee, Wisconsin
-Meet with voters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
-Free enterprise policy speech in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
-Counter-terrorism policy speech in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
-Economic policy speech at Harley-Davidson headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in an effort to attract Phil Bredesen's supporters Sad

As we can see, even though we disagree with Governor Phil Bredesen on some issues, his presidential candidacy as well as his challenge to Al Gore is giving a great opportunity for the Republican Party. You know why? Because just like us, Governor Bredesen seeks to reduce taxes for the American people and for businesses in order to facilitate job creation and declared that he wanted to ensure that America will take advantage of its own sources of energy, including coal, oil, gas, solar, wind, hydroelectricity, etc. So Bredesen's economic agenda is really similar to our party's economic beliefs. He is running on the right of Al Gore. But Bredesen doesn't have a path to the Democratic nomination. He has no chance to prevail. But when Governor Bredesen will lose the race for the Democratic nomination, his supporters will be so angered due to their unsatisfaction towards Gore's big government policies that increased taxes and regulations on businesses and on the American people, declared war on America's energy industry, decreased America's competitiveness in the global economy, killed hundreds of thousands of American jobs and raised our unemployment rate to 6.8 %. As a result, they could shift parties and possibly become the next Reagan Democrats.

We need to be a pro-growth party as well as a pro free enterprise party and that's how we're going to attract Bredesen's supporters because that's how we're going to rebuild the Reagan Coalition that has been strengthened thanks to the support of the Reagan Democrats that helped Ronald Reagan to make a strong performance in the Midwest, including here in Wisconsin, and to win 2 consecutive presidential elections by landslides.

Unlike Al Gore, I will cut taxes and regulations for all Americans, including the middle class and lower income Americans, and for all businesses, including small businesses. That way, we're going to reinforce our fellow Americans' purchasing power as well as their ability to raise their families and we're going to reinforce our businesses' dynamism, ingenuity, competitiveness and ability to create jobs. Approximately 70 % of jobs in America are created in small businesses and that's why I take the pledge to make America the best place in the world to do business. Unlike Al Gore, I will promote free trade in order to increase America's competitiveness in the world economy, to allow us to trade with 95 % of international consumers while we are representing 5 %, to reduce tariffs as well as the cost of American products and thus making them more accessible for international consumers. I will also make sure that the trade deals signed under my presidency will be fair for Americans and I will do so by reducing taxes and regulations on our manufacturing industry, which will allow us to keep our manufacturing jobs and to bring our lost manufacturing jobs back home, and by lowering our corporate tax rate from 35 % to 20 %. That's how free trade will create good-paying jobs here in the United States. Unlike Al Gore, I will end his war on coal by abolishing regulations on our coal industry, which will bring coal mining jobs back home and promote the development of clean coal technologies. I will abolish Gore's regulations on our oil industry, double permits and liscenses on public lands and encourage the construction from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, which will create over 3 million American jobs. Under a McCain Administration, we will invest a part of the revenues from oil drilling into the development of renewable energies which will not only further accelerate job creation but also give us a clean environment. And I will balance the budget by cutting wasteful government spending and adopting a balanced budget amendment. That way, we can get our national debt under control and reduce it. As the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, I have the required experience to grow this economy and create jobs for Americans, which requires putting the government at its lowest size in history.

By campaigning on that program, I will be able to attract Governor Bredesen's supporters who will be ready, just like the Reagan Democrats, to get America back on the right direction thanks to the promotion of free enterprise and free market. That way, the Reagan Coalition will finally be back stronger than ever before, we will win this presidential election and finally make the U.S. economy great again!

Kemp campaigns in Cleveland Ohio about bring back the Gold Standard

In 1984 I almost got a bill passed that would of brought back the Gold Standard. And even though it failed I didn’t not back off as a huge supporter of a revival of the system.  The Gold Standard will reduce inflation and give good competition for the dollar.  Studies show that if we bring back the Gold Standard we would reach 4% Economic growth. It will fight and defeat of raising prices on goods and services and it will help us save Social Security and Medicare. It’s not perfect however it’s better than what we got.

John McCain's response to Phil Bredesen in Cincinnati, Ohio

Governor Bredesen took every single word of my speech out of context. Governor, I never called your supporters party traitors and I never considered them as tools. I know they are all as proud to be Americans as I am. And yes, what I promised will work because I have demonstrated over and over again my ability to bring Republicans and Democrats together in order to get things done. Because I'm a proud champion of free enterprise and smaller government and because I have the best foreign policy experience to defeat radical Islamic terrorism, which is a something that you don't have. As the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, I know what it takes to encourage job creation and to restore America's economic strength.

And Governor, it's a lie to say that I don't care about America  and you know this. I deeply care about America. You know why? Because I always put my country first before my own interests and before my party's interests. No wonder that people consider me as a maverick. That's why I proudly served America in the U.S. Navy and took part in the Vietnam War. That's why, after accomplishing combat missions, when I was shut down, captured and tortured by the Vietcong I refused early release because I didn't want to encourage communist propaganda. I was prepared to die for America in Vietnam because I would prefer having been killed in Vietnam rather than promoting communist propaganda by accepting early release, which resulted to five more years of imprisonment and torture there. So I put my country first. That's why I broke from party lines in order to promote campaign finance reform when your opponent Senator Russ Feingold and I successfully passed the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform law officially known as the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 in order to regulate the financing of political campaigns, thus restoring integrity in our electoral system. That's why I wrote the legislation that created the 9/11 Commission after the terrorist attacks of September 11 2001 in order to prevent further terrorist attacks against the United States. And that's why I supported our military intervention against terrorists in Afghanistan in order to keep America safe and to defeat this evil for the sake of freedom, peace and justice. You should be ashamed of yourself, Governor, for questionning my patriotism and my willigness and ability to care about our beloved country called America and about the American people.

So my friends, if you want a President who will always put America first then I am your man.

Portion of Huckabee's 21st Century Foreign Policy Plan speech - Davenport, IA

We need to take a stand against those who take a stand against our democracy and values. Countries like Iraq, Iran, and Pakistan, are a harboring place for terrorists. They are stirring up their anti-American military agendas, by giving weapons to terrorists and building weapons of mass destruction. We need to take action as soon as possible. We need to put sanctions on Iraq, Pakistan, and any country that supports and protects terrorists. We need to work with our allies, like Israel, to preserve our values and lead the charge against terrorism. Here at home, we need to do more to secure our borders, we need to do more to strengthen our response services, and we need to do more to strengthen our police forces, so that we can defend our country and its people from the inside out! *Crowd cheers and applauds* We need to harness the oil we have here in the United States, so that aggressive countries in the middle east can't boss us around with theirs! *Crowd cheers* I recall seeing 9/11 unfold on my television. Seeing the horrors that I saw, I would do everything I can in the oval office to keep something like that from happening ever again. To not take quick action is just waiting for more bad things to happen. Under a Huckabee administration, you, your loved ones, and your country that we all love, will be safe from terrorism, domestic and foreign! *Crowd cheers loudly*

Abortion is unacceptable because it means murder of innocent unborn lives. That's why I oppose abortion except for in case of rape, incest and life of the mother. We should promote adoptions instead of killing unborn babies. That is the clear alternative to abortion. I've seen enough killing in my life, especially in Vietnam. Every life is precious. I'm a living proof of this matter of fact because 12 years ago Cindy and I adopted a three-month-old Bangladeshi girl that needed medical treatment and lost her two parents who died at that time and thus was an orphan. Then we decided to adopt her and we named her Bridget. I'm a strong champion of the promotion of life. I believe one of the fundamental rights that God gave to us is the right to live. Every human life must be protected by the Constitution of the United States. That way, we will lead our country to appreciate life and we will make sure that we will give to every American the priviledge to experience opportunity and to live the American Dream.

-Campaign in Florida where Senator McCain declares that what should have been done for the Republicans to win Florida in 2000 was to give more efforts to attrat Hispanic voters that represent over 10 % of Florida's electors. In an effort to attract Hispanic voters, John McCain pledges to secure America's borders and then reform America's broken immigration system in order to give immigrants a path to citizenship, which would reinforce America's workforce. Since Hispanics are among the ethnic groups mostly affected by the effects of America's actual economic downturn, McCain also promised to cut taxes on all the American people, including Hispanics, and to promote free trade with Latin America in order to give American businesses, including businesses owned by Hispanics due to their fluency in English and Spanish, new opportunities to innovate, to increase their competitiveness, to get new consumers by giving them access to American products, to create jobs in our country and ensure their business' expansion. Thanks to their bilingualism, Hispanics will be dominant among the importers, exporters, translators and executives who ensure such a cultural and commercial exchange.

John McCain's TV Ad - Experience

Airs Nationwide (in all the 50 states)

Narrator : America is living difficult times. We are living a time of economic downturn marked by a rise of unemployment rate to almost 7 % due to the Third Oil Crisis and also due to President Gore's big government policies that increased taxes and regulations on the American people and on businesses across the country and killed hundreds of thousands of jobs, declared war on America's energy industry, diminished America's competitiveness in the world economy and drastically increased the national debt.

Not so long after 9/11, President Gore didn't give enough efforts to defeat Al Qaeda and global terrorism and deprived us of the necessary tools and arsenal to do so by cutting in our defense budget, which lowered our military's size and made America and its allies easier targets for terrorists, including Al Qaeda, and gave us further terrorist attacks against our nation, including in Los Angeles and San Antonio. He gave up our allies and are now on their own against terrorists in addition of allowing Saddam Hussein's Iraq to get weapons of mass destruction.

But it is not too late to fix America. And there's only one man who has the knowledge and experience to do so and to lead our country in these times of uncertainty. This man is John McCain.

John McCain proudly served our nation in the U.S. Navy and took part of the Vietnam War. After accomplishing combat missions, his warplane was shut down by the Vietcongs, became a PWO, refused early release in order not to encourage communist propaganda and was tortured for 5 years.

Then he came back to our country and ran for Congress as a foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution before being elected to the U.S. Senate, a passage during which he supported all the efforts given by the Reagan Administration to win the Cold War, helped the United States to normalize their relations with Vietnam and wrote the legislation that created the 9/11 Commission after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in order to ensure the adoption of the necessary measures to prevent further terrorist attacks against the United States.

With such a background and with his experience as a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services and of the U.S. Senate Committee on Intelligence, John McCain has all the experience needed to fight and defeat radical Islamic terrorism and to keep America safe. He will do so by increasing the FBI's counter-terrorism budget, by reinforcing and modernizing our homeland security measures, rising our budget defense in order to reinforce and modernize our military and to ensure our troops' readiness, standing with our allies and expanding our alliances, striking terrorists wherever they are through our military force, arming the right groups in the Middle East through background checks, recapturing Al Qaeda's oil refineries and imposing all the necessary sanctions against rogue nations in order to stop them from getting weapons of mass destruction or nuclear missiles.

As the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, John McCain knows what it takes to grow the economy and create jobs. He will do so by cutting taxes and regulations for all Americans, including the middle class and lower income Americans, and for all businesses, including small businesses, by promoting free trade in order to increase America's competitiveness in the world economy, by abolishing regulations on our coal industry and on our oil industry, doubling permits and liscenses on public lands and encouraging the construction of a pipeline from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, by investing a part of the revenues from oil drilling into the development of renewable energies which will not only further accelerate job creation but also give us a clean environment and by reducing government spending and vetoing any bill aimed at increasing spending.

Among all the actual presidential candidates, John McCain is the most experienced and the most qualified to be President of the United States. He will always put America first and thanks to his experience, judgement, courage and leadership, America will finally retrieve its unity, safety and prosperity.

John McCain for a strong America and for a strong American leadership for the 21st Century.

John McCain : I'm John McCain and I approve this message.

Dick Cheney's campaign summary August 15-28 2003

From August 15 to August 28, Dick Cheney focused most of his efforts in the states of Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Texas, Florida and Oklahoma. In Oklahoma, he underligned his business experience when calling for tax cuts and regulations for businesses and for the end of Al Gore's assault on America's energy industry. In the state of Iowa, in an effort to attract evangelical voters, he declared that abortion should always be illegal. In South Carolina, he underligned his experience as Secretary of Defense when calling to reinforce America's military and to send additional troops in Afghanistan and to topple Saddam Hussein in order to combat terrorism.

I don't think so. He died in 04, so it's best to not have his Endorsement count.

Good morning, my friends. In these times of uncertainty, this election is clearly the most crucial ones in our lifetime. America is now living a very similar situation to era before my husband became President of the United States. Our economy is weakening due to a new oil crisis and to the increase of the size of government. And our country is facing strong terrorist threat since the last 2 years and yet we did not give enough efforts to defeat this evil. Now America has a choice, four years of economic downturn and terrorist threat or a path to prosperity and security and freedom. And there is one man among the Republican field who has the experience and determination. And that's why I am proud to endorse Senator John McCain.

[Crowd cheers and applauds]

Just like my husband was, John is not the youngest candidate in the field. But age should not be a campaign issue and John is not going to exploit for political purposes his rivals' youth and inexperience.

[Laughter]

Ronald and I had the chance to know John over the last 30 years, when he was a POW and came back from the Vietnam War after proudly serving our country in the U.S. Navy.  Then, during Ronald Reagan's presidency, John ran for Congress and for Senate when he demonstrated his championship towards the Reaganomics that cut taxes and spending, grew the economy, reduced inflation and created 16 million new jobs during the 8 years of my Ronald Reagan's presidency. Like my husband said, government is not the solution to the problem. Government is the problem. Senator McCain knows what it takes to handle economic issues and as President he will do it by lowering the size of government, cutting taxes as well as regulations and spending, getting America to energy  independence, encouraging free trade and making America the best place in the world to do business. As a combat veteran and as a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Intelligence and of the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services, John knows how to defend our nation and defeat our enemies and he will do it by rebuilding our military through an increase of our defense budget, which will grow and reinforce our military arsenal and effectives, by reinforcing our alliances and by going after terrorists. That's how we're going to keep America safe and win the War on Terror just like we won the Cold War during my presidency.

John McCain is a man with the character and the stubborn kind of integrity that we need in a President. He is by far the most prepared, the most experienced, and truly the most tested presidential candidate. He is ready to be Commander-in-Chief, to keep our nation safe and prosperous. That's why I'm here to officially announce my endorsement to John McCain, the next President of the United States of America. Let's Make America Great Again with President John McCain.
