Suppose Clinton had squeaked by in the electoral college in 2016, narrowly winning MI, PA, and WI, and thus, the presidency.

Now, suppose when she's up for reelection in 2020, Bernie Sanders challenges her in the Democratic primaries.  What is a realistic guess for how well Sanders would do?  What would be his share of the national vote in the primaries?

It's really impossible to know whether Sanders would get any sort of traction against an incumbent president. If he really manages to widely publicize himself and does in fact gain steam, this is his absolute ceiling:



But I highly doubt he would get there.
