Kshama Sawant has a better chance of being a Senator in Trump's America than any Republican in Washington State. It is hard to overstate how toxic he has been to every prospective Republican officeholder, and indeed everyone who identifies (or identified) as Republican in the state.

Cantwell doesn't have a democratic challenger.

Titanium Safe D... what makes the poster think that a mega thread is necessary for this? There's rumors that Cantwell could even go unopposed in the general.

Can we set one up for PA? The likely Republican nominee running there is arguably crazier than Trump himself.

Nope my dad actually talked to Susan Hutchison on the phone to thank her for being chairwoman of the GOP and asked her if she is running against Cantwell. She said tons of people have been calling her asking and she said that she is thinking about running.

Would be nice if no Republican entered though.

Once Hutchison gets in it does help Dino Rossi out quite a bit because you need someone at the top of the ticket even so she likely loses by 18+ points it does help all republicans.

Looks like Cantwell will be crushing Some Dude/Gal Democrat in a runoff by 40, maybe 50 points. Nice.

Why DOESN'T another Democrat run against Cantwell tho?

No party Democrat in Washington is far enough to the left to justify doing it on political differences, and those who are different enough in policy are Sawant/Oliver-type third-partiers. The only argument someone like Dow Constantine or Bob Ferguson could make would be "it's time for a fresh face," which probably wouldn't work at all, and would cost them support in a hypothetical Governor's race or future open Senate race.

The only thing interesting about this race will be seeing if Cantwell can win Spokane County.

What we really need to watch is how she does in cowlitz County because it’s a county that has been trending republican since 2004 heck it’s the only Gregoire-Rossi county in Washington and Trump won it by 10 points, on top of that EverySingle precinct had a swing to trump including union new deal strong hold Longview.

I doubt it will make that much of a difference, since Republicans aren't going to put money into a race that they're going to lose by over 20%. It's not like Hutchinson will cause a surge in Republican turnout.

That’s definitely true but someone has to run.
