Jimmy7812 for Lincoln Assembly (January 12 Special Election)

I am announcing my candidacy for Lincoln Assembly in the special election being held on January 12 as a member of the Federalist Party. We need assembly people who can set aside time to serve our Lincoln government, but inactivity has been a major problem occurring in the region. I am running so that Lincoln will have good, active leadership that will fight to make sure our citizens stay safe and have a better life. I hope to work with Governor Lok, but understand the limitations regarding his partisanship he has as our Governor. There have been questions raised by many Lincoln citizens about Governor Lok's choice in appointments. Most of them have been inactive Labor members, with the exception of politicalmasta and samtilden. And they were only appointed after criticism was pointed at Governor Lok about this. But either way, I will try my best to represent the citizens of Lincoln.

On the issues...

Economic:

• Infrastructure - Updating our buildings, roads, and bridges will create jobs, keep us safe, and lead to future innovation.
• Minimum Wage - The minimum wage should be be adjusted for inflation at first, and then increased slowly every year to prevent major price increases from a sudden raise of it.
• Taxes - A simple tax code that is fair, with few deductions and no loopholes. Lower taxes for the poor and middle class, corporations, and small businesses.

Social:

• Abortion - Pro-choice, as the government has no right to ban it. However, the number of abortions should be reduced by education and expanded access to contraceptives. Planned Parenthood should still be funded.
• Distracted Driving - A tough distracted driving law will help reduce the number of people using their phones while driving. Most people who text while driving know they are not supposed to and know they are doing something dangerous, but do it anyway. Tougher fines and possibly prison time will change that.
• Drugs - Marijuana should be legalized and be regulated just like alcohol. Opioids should be regulated and doctors should be held responsible if they over prescribe them. People who sell or transport any illegal drugs should face harsher punishments.
• Education - Education funding should be increased, but there should be more oversight on where and what the money is spent on. States should have control of curriculum, but they must meet a set national standard. School vouchers should be available for anyone who wants them.
• Gun Control - Require training and background checks to own a gun. The person would get a license that would have to be renewed every few years. This shows that the person knows gun safety and they know how to use a gun, addition to a comprehensive background check. Anyone can carry a concealed-carry with this license. Gun crimes, whether the illegals sale of one or the use of a gun in a crime, should have harsher punishments. Committing a gun crime should also result in a ban of the person being able to own a gun.
• LGBTQ - Same sex marriage should be legal and no one should be discriminated against because of who they are. Sexual orientation or gender identity should not affect the ability to adopt children or serve in the military.

Environment:

• Regulations - The environment needs to be protected. Reasonable regulations to protect land, air, and water should be passed.
• Renewable Energy - Reducing the use of fossil fuels to make energy is important. There should be incentives and tax credits to allow for more renewable energy.

Healthcare:

• Insurance - There should be a public option that anyone can join with no restrictions. Other insurance companies would compete against this plan. This would reduce healthcare costs and increase competition. Insurance companies would not be forced to insure anyone with preexisting conditions or be legally required to cover things such as drugs or services. The public option would always cover all these things and would be free or at a reduced cost for those who qualify.
