Jolly seems likely, or some other shuffled-out ex-Rep.

Maybe Cliff Stearns?

Jolly doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell. People seriously overrate him.

Jolly has been a good Democrat as of recent. I greatly doubt he will get in to challenge a moderate Democrat.

If Scott bows out, my money would be on CLC. Especially now that DeSantis has committed himself to the gubernatorial race. I wouldn't rule out a longshot run by some of the cooler State Legislators, like Halsey Beshears (who absolutely should've run for Agriculture Commissioner this year but stayed out to focus on his business) or Jeff Brandes.

Carlos Lopez-Cantera isn't running.

Not with Scott basically running, no. But that isn't the question at hand. The question is, who runs if Scott stays out.

I think his age would be prohibitive. Curt Clawson comes to mind, though; he retired early, but didn't have any scandals tarring him, as far as I know.

Rooney of these options, I guess, but almost certainly it'd be someone who's not an option in the poll. Lateresa Jones is a Democrat.

With Scott out the primary I see Lopez-Cantera running. I think he a solid second choice for FL GOP plus I think under Trump presidency the most demoralized voters will be Cubans. Jolly can not win a primary unless Beruff has a Moore moment or Jolly puls MS runoff. McConnell also will not let Beruff win the primary so I think if Scott does not run the likely nominee is someone under the radar.

LeMieux is old news, but Yoho could run. He would be a losing candidate though.

Serious effortpost: Florida's a hard state to get a campaign off the ground in. You need the money to be on the air/have staff in ten different media markets, and most of these people are total unknowns to people outside their districts. Most candidates (Scott, for example, as well as the others in the governor's race) have been building for this for years. Nobody's been building for the Senate primary, because it's widely assumed that Scott will run. If he doesn't, the options for a primary winner are (in order of likelihood): 1. someone who's already building for a statewide campaign, or someone with the 2. money or 3. connections to throw that together in a few months.

1 is basically just DeSantis and Corcoran. I doubt either'd be too inclined to switch from their current race, but a Senate seat would be tempting. 2 obviously has a lot more options, but someone like Beruff or Ron Bergeron would be the most likely fit. 3 is hardest to pin down, but Bondi or maybe someone from the legislature (Weatherford?) would be most likely. CLC is also in this category.

I think Rick Scott is the best possible GOP candidate, without him, I think this race is Likely D.
