This is an odd one. Mary Neal, a surgeon in Jackson, Wyoming, is considering a challenge to Liz Cheney, but hasn't decided which party line she might run on if she chooses to (registration doesn't end until June 1 in Wyoming). Neal, though a highly successful surgeon, is best known for penning two best-selling books about dying for 14 minutes during a South American vacation gone wrong during which she supposedly conversed with Jesus. Neal has given interviews and made appearances in and on channels and publications that skew right, but she has donated to Democratic candidates. Should she choose to run, Neal could apparently largely self-fund her campaign. She also has a decent social media following (99,000 likes on Facebook) she could tap into.

I hope she runs as an indie for the sake of shenanigans.

I'd rather as the Democrat, even if she pulled a Jim Justice.

Actually, sidenote: isn't Liz Cheney pretty uniformly loathed? I know she barely squeaked though the primary and only won on account of having an R next to her name.

Hope she runs as a D, she sounds like she fits Wyoming.

The Wyoming Democratic ticket in 2018: Two Marys and a Gary.

One of the articles I linked (can't remember which and I'm too lazy to read them again) kind of politely referenced that by pointing out the percentage she received last year compared to Trump's numbers in the state.

And apologies to Mary Neal for using the word strange in my original post, but I didn't expect to see a near death experience author enter the fray in 2018. But I guess we should expect anything these days.

I really wish Schumer could convince Fruedenthal to jump in the Senate race.

Wyoming is an incredibly inexpensive state to run in, a small investment will go a long way. If Dems are sensing a wave, might as well.

Honestly, if we were going to go all-in and run Freudenthal for another office, I'd want him to step to Cheney. If what I've heard is correct, she'd be the easiest target in the trifecta.

I'm not sure he could win, sure he was a popular Governor, but still.
