CONFEDERACY TODAY

Senator Stephen Ramuser campaigned with family on foreign matters today.

He has said to hope grow the CSA with not just the Latin Golden Circle act but for the lands of Missouri,Kentucky Tennessee,West Virginia and the territories of Arizona and New Mexico.

He has stated in our Confederacy we will be on top of the food chain along with Britain and France.

Time for a Special Election Poll for his Senate Seat then. In 1865, an amendment was added that a Senator/Representative can only have their Congress job or another one. I'll do it as a poll on this forum and After 24 hours, I will announce the Results.

Special Elections: These will happen when Senators/Representatives/Mayors/Governors are chosen to be in Cabinet position. A special Election lasts a day IRL but will end on December 1st in Game. These will be their own separate threads. A journalist character can report on them. Smiley

Ramuser’s June 1867 campaign update

Ramuser in order to get more popularity decided to get Stonewall Jackson more involved on the Campaign trail thinking that his charisma and his personality would get voters excited and perhaps capture undecided voters.

Ramuser got abunch of pro abolitionist people on board of his campaign trail and which that called out the pro slavery comments of the other campaigns.

One day left for the turn. Y'all best do it, lest there will be a small penalty in June's polls.

Colonel Jonathan White Smith has emerged as a very prominent Confederate politician. He’s pretty young, was raised in a very poor home and nearly died of sickness at the age of 12, but took care of himself while his parents and siblings were away. As soon as the war started, Smith enlisted due to his poverty as a dock worker. In the first Battle of Bull Run his heroics won him a promotion to the rank of Lieutenant. Eventually, by the end of the year 1861, he was promoted to a Colonel. His heroics in defending a fort in Louisiana from a surprise raid raised him to national fame as his forces took zero casualties while inflicting 480 on Union troops, whom survivors who were left behind were well treated by Smith, earning him respect from the former soldiers who had tried to kill him. When the troops returned home due to the Confederate garrison not having enough food to spare the captured, Smith sent them back and the soldiers convinced their superiors to not hurt him or launch another attack. He also discovered a Sergeant had tried to rape an escaped African slave, so he shot him in front of everyone. He made sure his troops were taken well care of and was very kind and caring, eventually earning diehard devotion from his troops. After participating in the final battle of the war, he could have been promoted to General but decided to return home to Florida and run for Governor. He was elected overwhelming due to his popularity, and after getting most of his main goals done in a year, he decided to run for an open Senate seat. He was elected overwhelmingly and has earned a reputation as being both a fighter for the common man, and became a bipartisan negotiater. He has decided to run for President kind of late, but he has decided to choose Postmaster General John Reagan of Texas as his running mate.

Senator Smith has been spending his first week as a presidential candidate campaigning in his native state, in northern Florida, yet has also been traveling around making speeches in Southern Georgia, speaking in many towns and filling up streets. He’s very popular among common men and middle class land owners. His running mate, Postmaster General John Reagan has been making preparations for a joint campaign appearance at the fort Smith defended in Louisiana next week. Senator Smith has been helping Congressional candidates from his party.

KNOXVILLE OUTLET

Today on June 8th, 1867, the first week of Presidential campaigning has come to a close. We have very little news to report other than the continuing tensions between Prussia and France and the War between Austria and the Ottomans going smoothly with little to note except that it seems after Capturing Sarajevo, the Austrians are now simply going to remain on the Defensive as well as the expanding Yucatan Commune and the Emperor of Mexico's conscripting a new army for him to use to crush this revolt. In Local News, however, Benjamin/Breckenridge, Lee/Davis, Limasta/Beauregaurd and Johnston/Barksdale tickets haven't campaigned this week while a new candidate enters, Johnathan White Smith of Florida and his running Joe Reagan of Texas have camapigned along with the Ramuser/Jackson tickets. One thing is certain, if this continues, these two tickets will be the two biggest choices for the election.

Stay tuned for an update from John S. Mosby on the race for his former Senate seat between Mayor Daniel Gray of Yorktown and Lieutenant-General Alexander C. "Hawkeye" Jackson, son of Stonewall Jackson. Next turn begins from when Rep.-elect wxtransit posts the article to 3 days afterwards (Hopefully January 8th)

Update from the Ramuser campaign

This week Stephen Ramuser became a father once again. This time on June 9th 1867 in Dallas Texas at 3:30 A.M Stephen Ramuser Jr was born.

The baby was delivered healthy and nothing wrong with it what so ever.

That being said however Ramuser still campaign on Slave rights saying that most of the other candidates will make Slavery legal for a very long time and that this is the election to prevent that from happening.

Jackson wins hard-fought Senate battle
June 8, 1867

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA (Richmond Examiner) - Today, one of the closest Senate battles in Virginia history has come to a close with the certification of Alexander Jackson's win over Michael Gray to succeed John S. Mosby's Senate seat.

As the results were coming in last week, it soon became apparent that the race would slightly favor Jackson over Gray, and in the end, Jackson scored a shock win over Gray with 54% of the vote. Gray received 44%, and Longstreet received 100 write-in votes. Jackson was certified as the winner by the Secretary of State today.

John S. Mosby, the holder of the seat since its creation, had originally thrown his hat into the presidential contest, before withdrawing from the race citing low polling in Virginia. He later announced he would resign his Senate seat in favor of securing a job at the Richmond Examiner, which triggered a special election for the seat.

Mayor of Yorktown and member of the newly formed Conservative Party Daniel Gray first announced he would be running for the seat amidst popularity within the state and within his new party.  Next, Lieutenant-General Alexander Jackson soon announced his run for the seat, running on a ticket with the Freedom Party.

Mr. Mosby later announced his endorsement of Gray, saying "I have known what qualities one must have to hold this high office, through my years of experience. And I can say Mayor Daniel Gray is uniquely qualified to serve the great state of Virginia."

While the campaign was hard-fought, in the end, Jackson eked out a win by securing Richmond's suburbs from Gray, who instead heavily carried Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Roanoke. Jackson also won the pivotal suburbs of Washington, D.C., a heavily Unionist area, by winning the Unionist vote 59-41.

This could have wide-ranging implications for the newly-founded Freedom Party, given they now have representation in the nation's Senate, which could bolster their presidential ticket. However, the Conservatives also could benefit from the exposure given by the campaign. Latest polls taken by the Examiner show a rise in support for both parties in the state.

Gray made his concession speech today after the certification of the vote, however, Gray did not rule out a future run for political office. Jackson, on the other hand, will take his new seat in the Senate in 1868.

OOC: In real life, I don't think this article could be written because of a conflict of interest Wink

They actually are. Maybe not as we know them today, but many cities (especially in the NE) had small suburbs around the main city.

A good example of this is Alexandria and Arlington, VA.

Arlington would be especially populated due to it being home to Robert E Lee.
