CSA Presidential Election Game

in 1861, Eleven states seceded from the United States and formed the Confederate State of America, electing Jefferson Davis of Mississippi for their first President, with him taking the George Washington route and being Non-Partisan. Following the battle of Harrisburg in 1864 due to General Robert E. Lee's well executed invasion of the north, the Union brought peace terms and it was agreed that the states that had originally seceded from the Union to be recognized as their own independent Nation and for the states of Missouri, West Virginia, and Kentucky was to be given to the CSA as well as the New Mexico and Indian Territory. After the victory in the Southern War of Independence, President Davis rode out the rest of his term until 1867, when his term ended and due to the constitution, the President was only limited to one term of 6 years. Many famous Confederate politicians and veterans have opted to stay out of the election. Now with the Non-Partisan movement done, there lies the idea of a two-party system being implemented quickly into the Confederate States.

Hello, welcome to the CSA Presidential Election Game. Here, the goal is to create a party and try and become president of the Confederate States as well as implement your parties proposed manifesto and your own personal Agenda on the Nation. The biggest goal is to either create a Two Party system or upend one of the two parties and replace them. Once a two party system has been implemented, a new player must be in a existing political party for two election cycles before they can run and head their own party. The following is a Party Sheet Followed by a Character Sheet

Party Name:

Party Color 1:

Once you fill these sheets out, your character will be added and you will begin your campaign to become President. An administration's success on their plans will be determined by an RNG of 1-100 with 1-5 being awful and anything above doing narrowly, moderately, or strongly well. A player can also do their own initiatives per turn. Once we have at least 3-4 players, the game will begin. Here are the Issues and the Current Electoral Map:

Issues:
Slavery: Slavery is protected by the Confederate Constitution, but how long can it last in a new Nation? (Rights wants to strengthen it, Left wants to Abolish it, Centre wants to keep it as is)

Twenty Negro Law: This Law exempts a slaveowner who has around 20 Slaves to be exempt from Military service. Many in the Nation claim this law is unfair and could've cost the CSA the war had they not been led by brilliant men like Robert E. Lee and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. Still, these rich slaveowners hold a lot of control over Congress and it would be difficult to pass any law over them.
(Right wants to strengthen it, Left wants to abolish it, centre wants to keep it as is).

Term Limits: There have been ideas that presidents having a one term limit law in the constitution may lead to weakness if the Nation is at war and there have been ideas going around that there should be a term limit of two and not just one. (Right wants to keep it to one term, Left wants it to be two terms,
Centre wants to put this issue off for later)

Relationship with the United States: Our brothers to the North are a little angered at us but still, would it be the best interest of the CSA to repair relations with our former oppressors? (Right wants to leave USA in the past, Left wants to repair relations with USA, Centre doesn't care)

Agriculture vs Industry: The war for control of the Economy of the CSA is now at a standstill with the CSA between traditional agricultural ways and new, modern industrialist ways. (Right supports Agriculture, Left supports Industry, Centre supports a balance of both)

Inflation: Despite the high times of the Davis administration, the money situation has continued to get worse and worse. Now, how can the CSA continue with it's own money? (Right supports redistribution of current currency, Left supports creating a New Currency, Centre wants to put this issue to the side for another day)

Knights of the Golden Circle Act: In 1865, members of a radical group called the Knights of the Golden Circle proposed to Jefferson Davis a plan to expand and conquer all of Latin America. Despite being laughed out of the White House of the Confederacy, though Senator Louis Wigfall of Texas was interested and introduced an Act to Congress in Early 1866 in which the CSA would Annex Cuba and Mexico and would begin the slow process of Confederatizing them so they can be a state in the CSA. Being pocket Veto'd by President Davis after 22 of 26 Senators voted yes on the Act and 99 of 105 Representatives of the House voted yes. After Davis, the next president will have to have one of these be the biggest issue as it is perhaps the most prevalent in the current year. (Right wants to Pass it, Left wants to end it, Centre wants to continue to pocket Veto it).

A parties performance in Congress will be determined by RNGs in every state with a specific number going for Each Party.

Electoral Map and former administrations Data down Below. Presidential endorsements and Party deals for cabinet is to be a PM with the Cabinet appointments having me moderate the discussion via PM.

Virginia - 18 Electoral Votes

Tennessee - 13 Electoral Votes

North Carolina - 12 Electoral Votes

Georgia - 12 Electoral Votes

Missouri - 11 Electoral Votes

Kentucky - 11 Electoral Votes

Alabama - 11 Electoral Votes

Mississippi - 9 Electoral Votes

Texas - 8 Electoral Votes

Louisiana - 8 Electoral Votes

South Carolina - 8 Electoral Votes

Arkansas - 6 Electoral Votes

Florida - 4 Electoral Votes

131 Total Electoral Votes

66 Electoral Votes needed to win

OK, NM, and AZ will become states same time as actual history and will continue to have that number of Electoral Votes that it had in Actual history. If a new place has been conquered and someone wants it to become a state, I will do an RNG to see if it does become a state or if it doesn't. If it does become a state, it will be given 3 Electoral Votes and will continuesly add 1-5 Electoral Votes per every 3-5 Election Cycles.

President: Jefferson davis

Vice President: Alexander H. Stephens

Secretary of State: Judah P. Benjamin

Secretary of Treasury: Christopher Memminger

Secretary of War: James Seddon

Attorney General: George Davis

Secretary of the Navy: Stephen Mallory

Postmaster General: John H. Reagan

Game officially begins on May 12th, 1867

A nitpick, but the CSA would not be able to take AZ/NM/WV even if they won.

Probably not MO/OK either.

I'll bite

Party Name:  Confederate Party
Party Colors:  Confederate Grey and Goldenrod
Leaning:  Right to Centre-Right

Party Leader:

Judah Phillip Benjamin
DOB:  August 11, 1811
Home state:  Louisiana
Experience:  C.S. Secretary of State (1862-67),
C.S. Secretary of War (1861-62), C.S. Attorney General (1861),
 U.S. Senator for Louisiana (1853-61)

Policy Positions:

Slavery - Right, "Slavery is a God-graced institution provided to the Southern planter for the benefit of all men.  The preservation of this sacred institution for posterity is of utmost concern for the Confederation."

Twenty Negro Law - Centre-Right, "The gift of the Confederate planter to his nation is the stability and economy he provides through the sacred institution.  While military service does not diminish this purpose, it should not be a requirement for him."

Term Limits - Right, "The framers of our nation had the proper idea to restrict the terms of office for the Executive.  The proper authority in a Confederacy lies with the States, and a unrestricted national executive is antithetical to this aim."

Relationship with the USA - Center Left, "No neighbors can exist when so opposed.
With our independence secured, we must strengthen our economic and political ties with the United States as to benefit from their current industrialization."

Agriculture vs Industry - Center , "An agrarian society exists in our Confederacy, and our policy should be to support the farmer, large and small.  However, the time has come for a national program for the development of our industrial capacity through internal improvements, namely rail and ports "

Inflation - Right, "While the rate of inflation remains worrisome, we are committed to the First Bank of the Confederacy and our currency.  Our commitment to our debts is necessary to strengthen our ties to our European allies.  A proper industrial program will grow our economy and allow us to weather the current spat of inflation we are experiencing."

Golden Circle Act - Centre, "While I will not publicly comment on this proposal as to avoid giving grievance to its many supporters, I will make it clear in private that it is not a practical course of action at this time.  Our military is not strong enough to support a prolonged expedition onto foreign soil without European involvement on our behalf, and any sort of European involvement in the matter risks alienating the Americans and inviting Yankee re-encroachment"

Biography - Over his tenure as Confederate Secretary of State, Judah P. Benjamin has focused on forging close relationships with Britain and France.  Benjmain has had to navigate the  precarious relationship with the United States. - the Yankee government recognizes the South's sovereignty, but the American people remain skeptical to cooperation between the two governments.  President Davis' ally and close personal friend, Secretary Benjamin has founded the Confederate Party to continue the President's legacy and promote the interests of the landed gentry.  However, many fear that Benjamin's Jewish faith will be a major stumbling block to his electoral popularity.

Richmond Extra: 1867 Election so far

It is time for the Next Presidential Election, our first real one since gaining Independence. So far, only one Candidate has declared to intention to run, former Secretary of State Judah P. Benjamin. The former Secretary of State has been quite popular, helping cool relations with our former Oppressors up north and create a Grandiose Alliance with Both France and Great Britain, creating the ideal world for our Confederacy so far.

In an interesting turn of events, however, Judah has decided to create his own Political Party, the Confederate Party. We do not know if this could lead to a two party system but it seems the Confederate Party may be in for a Landslide victory with few Opposition to challenge him.

People who have given hints on running or may have plans to run as of right now: General Nathaniel Bedford Forrest, who was the general that drew away Union General Buell from the town of Pittsburg Landing for a decisive few Hours, giving the rest of the Army of Tennessee enough time for their counter-attack that ended the Union's pitiful southern Campaign rather quickly.

Senator Louis Wigfall of Texas has also stated interest in running. Rather Popular in Texas, Alabama, and Georgia for his quite harsh policies to the idea of Negro freedom as well as the creator of the Knights of the Golden Circle Act, if he runs, he may prove a real challenge to Judah P. Benjamin and even has a slim possibility of winning the needed 66 Electoral Votes to become President.

Senator Landon Carter Haynes of Tennessee has also given the hope to run in this race. Being quite the moderate, his morals have given him quite the support among voters, especially in his homestate of Tennessee. If Haynes doesn't run, it would still be wise for the next president to consider him for position of Attorney General.

Finally, an ideal candidate running in the Race, General John C. Breckenridge may run for president and instead of being ignored by Congress, he may become our second president.

With these candidates now having thoughts on running, whoever Benjamin P. Judah picks to become his running mate may decide if one of the aforementioned onlookers do join the race. For the sake of Curiosity, we ran a National polling on the five selected candidates to see how well they would preform Nationally:

CSA National Polling on Judah P. Benjamin and four hypothetical candidates:

Judah P. Benjamin - 51%
John C. Breckenridge - 27%
Landon Carter Haynes - 17%
Louis Wigfall - 3%
Nathaniel Bedford Forrest - 1%

No matter who runs in this race, we are all garunteed a fight come November 18th of this year. Get ready, fine citizens. Election Season has arrived.

the aforementioned candidates can either be selected as a running mate for Benjamin or it could be either another Historical persona, such as Vice President Alexander H. Stephens, or a custom Character. Post once you have your choice Del Tachi. Presidential Election Convention of the CSA for 1867 will continue from May 21st-May 30th. Other players can also join to either compete against or support Judah for Election. Round ends on New Year's Day at 3:50 PM EST. At the end, an RNG will be held to see who might run against Judah If another player hasn't joined by then. Be prepared to get everything ready and do as much research as you can so you can play to the best of your ability. Have Fun!

Yes. We're all creating characters. Typically when someone uses an empty quote (just a quote and nothing else) it means that they agree with what the person is saying.

Being a union state during the war before being annexed, voters liked his more moderate positions and he won a close election. While not being the most famed war hero, he became a well known and outspoken senator and is very popular with slavery opponents and wealthy people that aren't plantation owners.

BREAKING NEWS FROM THE Ramuser campaign

Former CA Cornell and CS senator from North Carolina Stephen Ramuser has anncouned the running mate of his Freedom Party ticket.

General  Stonewall Jackson the war hero of the War of Northern Aggression who almost was killed in the Battle of Chancellorsville has been chosen at the campaign’s running mate.

We see Jackson as a founding father of the Confederacy and the and a mentor to Mr Ramuser.

We believe that he will bring popularity to the ticket and a total boost for the campaign.

We believe with Ramuser as president and Lee as his Vice President that will bring in the glory of a beganing of a great American Empire.
