Phil Bredesen seems to be making the senate race in Tennessee competitive in 2018. But among the declared or potential Republican candidates mentionned on Wikipedia, which of them has the best chance to defeat Bredesen and keep this Senate seat for Republicans?

It doesn't matter, Blackburn will win the GOP primary.

She's more well known than Bredesen statewide too. 75% name recognition in a state as large Tennessee as a congresswoman is insane.

I know, I actually changed it from congressman, because I wasn’t directly naming her as a congresswoman (ie congresswoman Blackburn). I think it’s weird, but hey, it’s a free country.

Congresswoman Blackburn is entitled to her opinion.

Phil Bredesen will be another Linda Lingle. A popular former governor from a minority party running for an open Senate seat with a supposedly good chance of winning. We all know how it ended the first time. Blackburn will win it easily.

No, but the state is probably easier to win than AL.

And Bredesen isn't a liberal, nor is Blackburn the kind of moderate Republican that we elect over and over.

Which is why if Blackburn wins it wouldn't be by the 30+ point margins that Corker, Haslam, Alexander, etc. routinely win by.

Dems won't win TN and TX, the state boundaries are too GOP friendly. Since, Dems won AL, with Doug Jones, AZ, NV, FL, IN and MO are the tipping point states. Expand majority in 2020.
