What if, instead of moving to New York, the Clintons stayed in their home state of Arkansas and Hillary Clinton became the Governor or a Senator from Arkansas?

Hillary was going to run for the presidency at some point, and representing a large state that embraced the type of liberalism the national party was trending toward made far more strategic sense than running against an incumbent Republican senator in a state that was shifting away from the Democrats.  She would've had a harder time maintaining her national profile if she moved back to Arkansas and ran for office there.

Frankly, it would have made more sense for Hillary to run against Obama in 2004, in Illinois...she might have actually won that one.
