I wasn't surprised, I called it a 52-47% Bush state and was right.  Jeb's convincing re-election in 2002 was a discouraging harbinger of things to come for the Dems in 2004.

Something that could send the state heading in another direction is the death of Castro.  When he dies, the Cuban voting bloc is up for grabs.
