I wasn't surprised, I called it a 52-47% Bush state and was right.  Jeb's convincing re-election in 2002 was a discouraging harbinger of things to come for the Dems in 2004.

Something that could send the state heading in another direction is the death of Castro.  When he dies, the Cuban voting bloc is up for grabs.

Nah, I doubt that. They'll be doubly angry and doubly reactionary once they notice people in Cuba really don't want them back.

The District of Columbia votes Democratic.  It always has and always will.

There. Wink

Florida is, in truth, a confusing state to me because it has so many micro-districts.  It is half southern, and half this weird mix of northern culture and southern demographics.  And then there is Miami.  And then there are the suburbs.  And then there are the beach cities.  And then there are the weird enclaves of strange cities where how you vote depends a lot on your ancestry.

It's all a bit of a muddle to me.

Then you've got the fact that it's nearly impossible to poll.

Makes life entertaining.  Smiley

LOL, this is all very true.  I think the Cuban vote will moderate in the future causing this state to trend towards the democrats.  It's a swing state for now.
