Marceline, Missouri, August 4th, 1947

"Hello, Marceline!!!" Crowd Cheers loudly "isn't this day lovely? On to why we're really here. America, we stand on a precipice. We have a President who we never even elected, who we never choose. Is that very fair?" Crowd Screams *NO, MR. DISNEY!!! "Please, just call me Walt. You're probably wondering why I'm here. Well, truth is, I initially never thought about being here but then I looked at the Republican candidates this cycle. A governor from Ohio and a member of the American Labor party. I then look at the Democrats. Yes, it's true that pathetic Truman isn't running but look at them! The secretary of State for an administration we didn't vote for, A socialist, and a former Military general. To be honest, I really do respect Dwight for all he gave for our country in the war but this is not what America wants or needs. That's why, it is my highest honor to Announce my Candidacy for the Republican Nomination for President in 1948! God bless you all, I hope to see every last one of you on the Campaign trail!" Crowd continues to cheer as Walt Disney leaves the stage and makes for the Train station to begin his Primary Campaign.

OOC: After every round, where there be National polling for each Candidate to see where we're at?

THE STATE OF THE RACE AUGUST 1947
NEW YORK TIMES PAGE 2

The 1948 presidential election kicked off two weeks ago when unpopular President Truman said that he wouldn't run for reelection which didn't surprise a lot of people.

With that the race has kicked off with the somewhat popular Secretary of State George Marshall has announced a run for president and has kicked off the race as the frontrunner of the Democratic Party.

Meanwhile populist and former Socalist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas has declared a sort of anti Marshall candidacy  however World War II hero General Dwight D  Eisenhower  who is seen as the most electable Democrat according to our polls.

Meanwhile former Vice President Henry Wallace has declared a independent candidacy. Wallace who has been seen as a communist sympathizer will have a task to complete in this race where a threat of the Red Menace is a big problem.

Meanwhile another socialist and labor union activist Vito Marcantonio has declared a candidacy for the Republican Party. Despite his popularity in congress his history of Soviet Union praise will is questionable to voters.

And our Republican frontrunner returning from 1944. Ohio governor Robert Taft has thrown his hat into the Republican race.  Taft will try his message of free market economics and small government once again.

And also a stunner cartoonist and businessman Walt Disney has said he is running for the Republican nomination.

Disney proposes a more moderate Republican candidacy than the others.  Get ready and buckle up folks.

This race is about to begin!!

Polling

Republicans
Taft:32%
Disney:24%
Marcantonio:16%

Democrats
Marshall:42%
Eisenhower:38%
Thomas:24%

Walt Disney for 1948 Campaign Schedule August 5th- August 31st Pt. I (August 5th-August 9th

August 5th:
Meet with Voters in St. Louis, Missouri
Rally in Springfield, Missouri
Barnstorming in Marceline, Missouri
Rally in Little Rock, Arkansas
Foreign Policy Speech in Kansas City, Missouri

WALT DISNEY FOREIGN POLICY SPEECH IN KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI (ATTENDANCE: 56,000)

"Hello, Kansas City! Isn't today a swell day?" Crowd Cheers loudly "Haha, I thought so! Now onto the real reason we are here: my thoughts for Foreign Policy. Well, I garruntee you that it's a hell of a lot better than what Taft's got, which is a Big Fat nothing. I am here to declare that not only will I support our allies in Europe, but I solemnly swear to halt any attempt of the spread of communism in any direction. One of the biggest things we must be concerned with at this very moment is the Chinese Civil war. The People's Republic of China is quickly defeating the Kuomintang there and who do we have to blame for that?Crowd Screams "TRUMAN!" "Yes, Truman! It's because of that Moron that the United States may lose the first battle against the spread of communism. I hereby take a stand, However! The Kuomintang must survive and thrive. Yes, it is Nationalistic but it is also close to a Democracy. We need to send advisors there to help them out unless we want a communist China who will be aligned to the Soviet Union. Speaking of which, Hello Marcantonio. You must be listening to the radio right now and thinking 'how can I turn this into a pro for the Soviets. Truth is, you can't, Mr. Marcantonio. Fellas, that guy has praised the Soviet Union many, many times. Do any of you really want him to be our Republican Nominee?" Crowd chants No over and over again for a solid few minutes before settling down

"I thought so. The Soviet Union is a monstrosity, an abomination that goes against everything this great Country stands for! Containing it from getting further from it's current borders should be the most important goal as of Right Now for our country. My two opponents are quite different, with Taft, I can see us becoming more Isolationist, something that could see a greater rise of communism around while Marcantonio may lay the groundwork for our Great country to become communist as well! I don't like the idea of that one bit, America. Finally, I propose an idea for our allies in Europe. If I'm elected in 1948, I will attempt to bring into law a two year recovery bill to help restore the economies of Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Denmark, Great Britain, Austria, France, and West Germany as well as restore their militaries in Europe! I promise the same thing for all our Pacific allies as well. Once the two years are up, well, I'll tell you all if I'm asked. Thank you, Kansas City. You've been great!" Walt leaves for Train Station as Audience cheers and constantly shouts "Disney for President in 1948!

August 6th
Rally in Nashville, Tennessee
Foreign Policy Speech in Memphis, Tennessee
Meet the Voters of Louisville, Kentucky
Barnstorming in Knoxville, Tennessee
Economic Policy Speech in Cincinnati, Ohio

WALT DISNEY ECONOMIC POLICY SPEECH IN CINCINNATI, OHIO (ATTENDANCE: 76,000)

"Hello, Cincinnati!!! I want to say that this day is a good day for talking about one thing. That thing is Economics. What your governor, Robert Taft, is talking about is ludicrous. I say this because when I hear his policies, I have only thought. That's 'Wait, A minute, haven't I heard this all before?' that's because I have. What you're governor is arguing for is what President Hoover argued for in 1932! What he is suggesting is a de-escalation of Economy too quickly after the Economics of Truman and Roosevelt. That could lead to another depression and I really think not a single one of us wants that. I have an idea that will make everyone happy, however. As President, I promise to lower Government intervention in the Economy from where it's currently at to a healthy 30% Government intervention from 1948-1952 to allow for a much faster growth in the Economy without the fear of a recession or a Depression coming once more to our nation. Ohio, this Primary, I hope you choose Me, Walt Disney, for I have the right policies for you! God bless you all!" Disney leaves stage as his supporters cheer him onwards, indicating how Popular he really is.

You all have suffered greatly and now you're barely holding onto your farms still. That, in my honest opinion, is not fair for those who give everyone their food. My opponents will only lead you to ruin. I have my own experts to confirm that and there have also been major economists who agree that a presidency of one of them will lead to a large fall in Agriculture. South Dakota, I don't want that for you and none of you want it either. Richmond, Virginia, August 6, 1947

Thank you for coming, ladies and gentlemen. My friends, we stand at a crossroads. Down one, a message of hope and prosperity, down the other, one of fear and divisiveness. We are a nation of free people, and we cannot let the politics of hate divide us.

I come from a background in the military as many of you know. I attended the Virginia Military Institiute and have made a career out of being a soldier. During the war, I served as Chief of Staff of the Army, and was responsible for organising our army into a proper fighting force after years of peace. I organised our Army into the instrument that now protects us from Communisim and tyranny and won the war for us.

Lately though, there can be little denial that the tensions between us and the Soviets have been ramping up. They would seek to provoke us, but let me tell you, we will not allow Communism to expand any further! We are the best hope for a free world! We stand opposed to any form of tyranny!

Ladies and gentlemen, I say again that we stand at a crossroads. We cannot allow our country to be run  by socialists who sell out to the Soviets, nor millionaires who don't understand how the system works. That is why, with reluctance, that I declare my candidacy for President of the United States of America!

Dennison,TX, August 6,1947

Thank you, thank you, thank you! First, let me say that it is an honor to be considered for the
Democratic nomination. As a general, I learned firsthand about leadership and teamwork. Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want to be done because he wants to do it. When you are on the battlefield, there is no excuse, no ways to get out of fighting for your life and for your country safeness. I can bring this experience to Washington, and make a difference for the American people.
Now I can tell you why at this point I thought I had to run. We are at a crucial crossroads. We can not cave out to the Soviets, yet it is looking like we might. I encourage all of to support Ike for AMerica!

SUMMARY OF WALT DISNEY'S CAMPAIGN FROM AUGUST 19TH- SEPTEMBER 1ST

Walt Disney would continue his presidential Campaign throughout the rest of the month visiting the states of California, Colorado, New York, and Massachusetts where he would deliver much of the same that he did in the first half of August, crowds and energy at every event spectacular. He has now said after campaigning for a solid month and After giving a foreign policy Speech in New York City that he'll rest for the rest of the day with hopes that the polls will be slightly more favorable in September to him.

I'll have to post a summary as well.

Secretary Marshall campaigned in in New York, California and Michigan, but spent most of the week drafting a plan to aid Europe in rebuilding in the aftermath of the war. Unofficially dubbed "The Marshall Plan", the bill is expected to be ready for a vote by June. In addition he has continued to negotiate agreements between the Communist and Nationalist Parties in China

While in Michigan, he notably announced that he would veto any attempt to restrict the rights of labor with regards to collective bargaining.
