You can't make this sh**t up.

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/362644-white-house-maintenance-orders-reveal-mice-infestations

White House maintenance work orders reveal that the historic building's grounds are plagued with mice, cockroaches and ants.

NBC 4 Washington, which obtained the hundreds of work orders, reports that there have been a number of requests to deal with vermin in the White House, including mice in the situation room and the White House Navy mess food service area.

Other requests reported cockroach infestations in at least four parts of the White House, and a colony of ants living in chief of staff John Kelly's office.

Personally, I'm more concerned about the humanoid cockroaches and vermin.

I guess that's what happens when you have a rat in the Oval Office.

And you guys criticized the God-Emperor for daring to call the White House a dump.

He brought the vermin with him. Have you ever been to a Trump property in NYC?

I don't remember such complaints under Obama. Must be Trump's slum-lord management style. He's probably cutting maintenance and janitorial so he can put on gilded toilets.

It's a 200 year old house built on a swamp, you can't get rid of all the pests in that situation.  I know people that have worked (like actual work, not the thing politicians do) in the White House, to a man they all say it's a dump.

There were rats when Truman lived there; the building was run down at that point.

yeah, this is a big problem for these sort of buildings - the Houses of Parliament are notoriously in need of renovation at the moment, being infested with vermin (no, not the peers) and the antiquated drainage, electricity, plumbing and ventilation systems are all in a state of disrepair. But it's very hard to do a deep renovation in a building that is in constant use, especially as Parliament has asbestos throughout.

(In fact, Trump's dislike for the White House could be useful - couldn't they convince him to live in Mar a Logo for the next few years?)

In all  seriousness, when there's a bunch of subterranean tunnels underneath a building, this'll happen.

I suspect it's the swamp more than the underground tunnels.  There are no* vermin in Stratcom for example....though it is a 150 years newer and I think Omaha gets colder for longer than DC does, that probably helps a little....though we talking underground here, so that probably doesn't play much of a role.

*we do get a couple of weird bugs (I've maybe seen ~20 in the 20 years I've been here), and I've seen some tiny flying things in the restrooms, but nothing big and certainly no mammals
